Re: national cadet course

Hey dude! Old memories come flooding back....I did it; loved it. But it's been discontinued now...They are planning to make army 'smarter' rather than bigger. That's a good idea in a way. You gotta spend more on the people actually recruited....
But it was fun. The prime of life........

Re: national cadet course

did you have companies? if so what company were you in?

i was in delta company :bummer:

since i was tall they put me in alpha. front row of alpha company. then i percolated, row by row by row through all the companies to the back of delta company :-/

and i agree.. one of the best periods of my life.

Re: national cadet course

It's been more than 5 years now. I can't recall everything. Yes we did have companies. But, if I remember correctly they were named after some 'real' people; our national heros. One thing that I vividly remember is shooting that rifle...first time in my life. Too bad, I couldn't win any prize there. But, I guess, now I can hit the bull's eye. And hahahah..yea I remember the jokes and pranks.:D They made us march through mud and ponds. But, you know, you don't question authority in the military.:)

Re: national cadet course

ergh that used to be embarrassing. our college was from grade school to 12th grade so we'd have little kids coming upto us and standing around as we were doing frog jumps and groaning through those other awful jumps and hops and whatnot while they watched our tamasha.

i think i missed all my rifle shots too. and i wasnt in the right leyti position so i got a boot on my bum to fix it :-/

our company's march slogan was "Who are you??" "Jungjoo!!". very inspiring and poetic :D

Re: national cadet course

I was the leader of the company....not to mention I score the highest points in shooting with those old 1965 surplus rifles....:D

Re: national cadet course

semeee autooooo matek .42 kaalibaar rifles :D

they do not offer it any more... oh the 2% gone :(

Re: national cadet course

No wonder Indians will fk the crap out of us. It is 'Corps' (not course). I did it to get 20 extra marks on my Uni application… learnt to fire a 303 and marched like an idiot.

Re: national cadet course

Madhanee, you did not have to march to prove that you are an idiot, it is quite obvious :flower1:

Re: national cadet course

yes those twenty marks used to mean a lot. and i did rue my relatively inferior Muslimness so much when I found out about the additional marks hafiz e Quran got..

heh.. i remember the laundry service wala offered me free dry cleaning upon seeing my uniform.. wardi ki thori izzat hoti thi :)

Re: national cadet course

NCC stands for National Cadet Corps.

It was fun. It was us giving a them a hard time instead, cos life had been one long NCC course at cadet college hasanabdal anyway (5 years). So lets just say our jhaakay were already khulay huay. We had been giving a hard time to our staff (army hawaldaars) and knew all the weak points and ways to get on their nerves :D So these new clowns they sent down for NCC was just entertainment. Ofcourse we werent disrespectful, just lighthearted fun. It was a good time, still remember the roar of laughter after the "gashti party gasht karti hay" and the smartarse questions we asked with a straight face afterwards. There were some other jokes and funny questions asked to them by us regarding snake bites and frost bites and what not. Not suitable for the forum. :)
good times.

Re: national cadet course

since i went to a military affiliated college, our NCC was much tougher than the picnic platoon my cousins were part of in their civilian girlie gangs.

It was a lot of fun, and our shooting included several different types of weapons. I had a great time.

I guess they discontinued NCC now because gali gali ka baccha knows how to use a gun anyways :D

Re: national cadet course

Re: national cadet course

I did it too...
it was more of a 'shughal' than anything else.
and firing was awfull.. ankhein band and thaa.. thaa..thaa..
didn;t know where the bullets went :D
I m still having hard time firing accurately in "Call of Duty" :-p

Re: national cadet course

Well I went to a military school, so NCC was practically a joke. But we sure did learn to shoot the US M1, that my Father-in-law used in WWII and in Korea. So now we exchange notes on the inner working of USM1 and laugh at the sophistication of NCC.
While in NCC, since we were 40 minutes away from LOC, we also learned how to launch propaganda in the Indian controlled territory using propaganda bombs launched from a artillary gun (the one the soldiers drag in the back of trucks, it is a big gun). I must say it was fun, specially getting salutes from Jawans, they used to think we were new "leftain sahibs" from PMA.

Re: national cadet course

Jawans know the difference between NCC uniform and the regular military uniform.

Re: national cadet course

I was in the army wing ncc for 3 years :D We learnt how to use a .202. For some odd reason they made us crawl on our knees for a few yards before firing the gun. Also learnt to march.. ek do ek ek do ek 'bout turn! and cross country running! I remember wearing my rank badges with pride.. just can't remember what rank I was.

Re: national cadet course

^ You must have been Jamadarni, I was a Commanding Officer General.

On your knees, Spahi Verizon.

Re: national cadet course

Is that you at the back? with the blue topi, making the V

Re: national cadet course

I politely disagree, the jawans dont know the difference. Specially the ones that are directing traffic outside FF regiment, baluch regiment, and AMC. We used to have a bet going on to see how many salutes we will get by driving up and down the karakoram highway.

P.S Since all of you are into titles I was the platoon commander of a platoon, in the batallion.
