salam there r too many sects in pakistan. some like ''butt'' ''kashmiri'' dont like to use ''nath'' coz they think that its kind of ''nakail'' ,used for animals to make them obedient, that women use,but some ppl use it. now these is not in fashion. but not related to the nikkah at all.

Now how did you come up with this? I belong to a kashmiri family and i have never heard or experienced anything like this.

yes i heard about this but this is not like that without nuth the nikah is not done ,it comes from hindus as they want the wife their servents they said doing nikah wearing nuth is must and usually the inlaws bring that nuth ,as they feel they keep nakail in the girl anyway these types of stupid things are now out peoples get educated and dont believe in such things.

Ok this sounded a bit crazy to me and I don’t believe it but I want to know if anyone else heard this
I have been talking to some people back from pakistan recently and they are saying that in Pakistan these days people are saying that if the bride doesn’t wear a nath (the nose ring thingy) during her nikah then the nikkah doesn’t happen!!!
I don’t believe its true but I want to know if anyone else heard this?

I usually dun read the whole thread so I missed it before but just as naina wali has clarified, I, myself being kashmiri has never heard of it before nor does it happen in our family. A few of my cousins did wear nath but some didn’t and at the end of the day it’s totally personal choice and preference!

I agree. Usually it is the In-laws who force the girl to wear Natth they buy for her before her Nikkah as a gift . It just indicates girl has come under their control :D

WHAT BAKWAAS! ANYTHING TO MALIGN ANOTHER RELIGION. Who told you that it came from Hinduism? That is ridiculous. Never heard of that. Most of the time Hindu brides do not wear Naths.

It could just be a cultural old wives tale. How does that relate to "hindus as they want the wife their servents"?

Seriously, do some reading and introspection before you bandy around these untruths (rumor or otherwise)!
