Waqar is not by nature a good captain. The problem is there are no great candidates who stand out. Wasim Akram is the best man for the job, but he's retiring.
IMO Nasser shouldn't have resigned either BTW. He's been England's best captain for a long time.
Yes! he should give us captaincy and let some other guy take over.
But not straight away. there should be a smooth transition from the current team and the future one. Wasim, Waqar and saeed anwar should teach all they know and monitor the young folks before they decide to leave the team. Perhaps not have one coach but have a coaching committee with all these senior guys in one committee taking personal responsibilites to bring out the best in the young champions of the future.
Imran Khan doesn't have time or motivation for such menial tasks. He knows that a coach is not "The Man" in cricket. It is the captain who should and does call all the shots.
I think Inti (Intikhab Alam) was the best coach Pakistan ever had. He is a cool headed guy who loves the game and knows how to communicate to talented yet unrefined Pakistani cricketers.
IMO Nasser shouldn't have resigned either BTW. He's been England's best captain for a long time.

Its not just a matter of good captain. He is resiging cause he knows he is not an automatic selection in the team. His form has been very poor, and now its just time to give somebody else a chance.
Same goes for Waqar. His most lethal weapon was his pace. He has lost considerable amount of that. He does not have the vareity that Wasim Akram does. Its time for the young blood to take over. Though I do feel Akram still have a couple of years left in him.
I dont know if Moin will be the next captain, as suggested by someone. That would be just WRONG. If the selection commitee dont think he was good enough to be the wicket keeper then dont bring him back as captain next time around. I think Kamran Akmal can do a great job, or for that matter I think we can try using Taufeeq as a wicket keeper. That will give us the option of playing an extra batsman or bowler, as needed.
Great decision by Nasser Hussain, like someone else said above, Nasser Hussain was never a one day player, he should only concentrate on test cricket.
waqar will handover the captaincy, but I still want to see him in the team, the burden of captaincy lowered his performance, it happens to every great player. every famous player who takes over the captaincy starts playing inconsistently but like I mentioned in the other thread, is there another decent choice for the captaincy.
He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to English cricket, and the gits have just let him go … we’ll never win anything at this rate :sigh:
P.S/ Is it at all possble for you guy to have a discussion without bringing Pakistan into it? I thought this thread was meant to be about Hussain, not Younis
wacker was one of the worst coaches in pakistan history and has led our team in its worst showing in a wc ever. he's not the answer. we should just realize that we're in for a long rebuidling stage and look to foster talent. here's my Pak XI
