I am NC40/42 as well...a wheatish olive kind of complexion.
Which blush would suit me? I need a natural glow kind of thing.
My skin colour is a mystery it looks brown but foundation it suits is nc40...do u guys think taj mahal blush would look nice on my skin tone? or would i look more dark? what blush colour would it be complementing my skintone?
And yes, NC40 is on the darker end of medium skin. I'm an NC20-25 (depending on summer/winter) and for me Taj Mahal gave a very light orange/coral kind of color and VERY easy to overdo where it will start looking almost red-orange. On darker skintones it gives a very healthy flush because of its undertones. I know darker-skinned girls LOVE Taj Mahal. Another blush which would go excellent w/ NC40 skin would be Amour (matte burnt rose/coral color, AMAZING!!!! on ALL skin types but looks even better on darker). One of my other favorites is Exhibit A (matte red-fiery-orange), it looks UBER scary in the pan and although darker-skinned girls love this color I find it looks AMAZING on girls w/ NC15-NC30 skin too. Like snow white/"came from the cold" kind of flush.

Orgasm is a great color, on lighter skintones it is a peachy-pink with shimmer (not chunky) and on darker it can even be used as a highlight. I find I reach for Orgasm when I cant decide on anything else. It goes with EVERYTHING.
I'm NC42 (MUFE HD 153). For anyone who is NC37 or darker....I HIGHLY recommend the following NARS blushes:
Sin
Torrid
Taos
Desire
Angelika
Taj Mahal
Exhibit A
LoveJoy
Albatross (as highlighter)
Gilda (This would be a great, subtle daytime blush)
Mata Hari: This would be a gorgeous color for NC37 and darker girls. BUT...when I swatched it at my Sephora and Nordstorm NARS counter...at both places the texture felt chalky (which shocked me). This is why I don't have this. So if you're checking out NARS in person....swatch this and see how it feels.
Orgasm: This didn't show up on me at all. The only thing you can see is the shimmer....0 color.
Application: I use MAC 116 for Sin, Lovejoy, Torrid, Gilda. For the other blushes that're super pigmented & brighter (Taos, Taj Mahal, Desire, Exhibit A, Angelika)...I use MAC 188.
$27 can seem expensive for these....but you need to use sooo little product...especially on the brighter colors....I expect to have these blushes 10 years from now (if not longer!).
I use a MAC #168 for the lighter blushes (Orgasm, Deep Throat, and Madly). Everything else is also with a MAC #187 or #188. I think I'm gonna buy a #109 for bronzer and blush, esp. cream blushes. Have you tried the new NYC cremesticks that came out? I just got 2 and I LOVE THEM! You need to check those out, although they are kinda' light colors but show up great on my NC20-25 skin.
I've seen the Pixiwoo sisters use the 109 for blush as well, have you tried that? And I like to really buff in foundation whenever I wear it so with the 187, I just feel like it just sits there, you know?

Hmm.....no. I don't usually watch videos unless I'm researching something specific. Do you by chance happen to have the link? I've read about this on MUA (ie. buffing) but haven't tried it.....what brush do you use? I'll see if I find videos on YouTube for this....
And for buffing in the foundation, YOU NEED to check out the Sigma F80 brush (flat-top kabuki, similar to the MAC 180 which is discontinued now, sadly. Plan on getting it eventually via eBay but those prices kill me!) OR another similar brush that everyone raves about on MUA is the ELF Powder Brush. Both work fantastic but the ELF one has a bit more “give” to it and the bristles aren’t AS packed tight the way they are w/ the Sigma F80 (this one seems to be a favorite of almost everyone).
Take a look at this video, she uses the F80 for buffing in the Revlon CS and the NARS SG foundation:
^I think that's the best idea. I went specifically looking for a blush and tried a bunch before one of the counter girls put Gilda on me and I really liked it.
I agree, too shimmery and unflattering for my oily skin.
I know this is a NARS blush thread, but I tried on MAC's "Desert Rose" from a friend and fell in love with it. Oh em gee, it was the most natural looking blush i've ever tried. It makes you look like you're actually blushing. Haven't gotten a chance to purchase it yet, but it's at the top of my makeup list.
Exhibit A looks pretty nice too, I think I might give that a try. M, i'm a NC 30-35 from MAC, which blush from NARS would you recommend for me?
OMG COPPERTONE IS AMAZING! Try pairing it w/ MAC's Hug Me. I tried it on my mom who's an CN20 and IT LOOKED SO GORGEOUS! She was glowing. Uff.
And @Marwah, NC3-25 skin would look great with Exhibit A (although it's scary in the pan, it works well even on the lightest of skins), Deep Throat, Gilda (OMG, love), Amour and Sin.
