It isn’t compulsory Daffy…as in I have heard people have got their visas on their old NICs too but to be on the safe side and make sure the marriage is registered with NADRA it does help to change marital status on NIC. If you go for the urgent application, you’d get the NIC within 7-10 days but just make sure they spell everythiing the right way esp while typing the names in Urdu and English. I had to go through the entire NIC application again because they misspelt hubby’s name
Apply for passport on urgent basis too once you get the CNIC. Shouldn’t take long IA about 10-14 days max I think.
lol I know..I loved the idea thus the reason you see my name change on fb and skype ..but officially never did for Islamic reasons plus my dad used to tease me to keep my maiden name. He says my name still sounds the best with yours
Name changing... Shows devotion, my teacher never changed her name in her 20 yr of marriage, she thought she'd suprise her husband on their wedding anniversary. Went through a lot of crap and got it changed, only to find out that he cheated on her and they divorced... Now that's some sad stuff... Whenever I think of this topic I think about her, she was such a good teacher.
My other teacher rlly didn't want to change her name but it meant a lot to her husband so she did... Idk I think to him it meant ur officially mine.... MINE!!!! Lol:)
a father maybe live as long as your husband in most cases
plus its a custodial/responsibility issues not a convenience one
The problem is with the darn NIC card ... Pakistan requires the wife to bear the name of the husband if she is married ... but it is stupid, because then she has to keep changing it in the case of divorce or becoming a widow ... and then again for getting married after that ...
I'm not going to change mine. Mostly due to Islamic reasoning, but also I have a quite special last name where I live. It's unique from the rest of the pakistanis here. Yet to meet someone with the same :)

I'm changing my last named and you know adding his middle name only because I find it so sweet<3
The only thing I wouldn't change is my own first name and middle name that my parents chose for me. I find that more disrespectful then changing the last name.
It also shows unity I believe if all family members have the same last name.
