Re: Name calling
I wrote this too but deleted, well,I always reply them that I have never heard any case of karo kari or marriage to Quran ( nauzbilah ) in my life, that's only in qisay kahaniyan.
And to be very honest it's true I never heard anything like this in my village or anywhere else in sindh, and no one have more than one wife in our fAmily.
I think Karo-Kari incidents still happen and we should not close our eyes towards that. But there are few incidents of this bad practice, which should not be generalised for overall Sindhi society.
Regarding marriage with Quran, it also seems to me a fairytale love story promoted through Noor ul Huda Shah's dramas like Jungle. I once read her interview, where she said her script has been taken wrongly and imposed on whole Sindhi society.
Re: Name calling
and balochi people say katto **to mohajirs. one of our balchi friend with us and we were in the area of balochi poeple where some balochi guys threaten us for no reason. after that when they left our balochi friend told us that they were saying us **katto.
Re: Name calling
They use Dagga (pronounced as Tagga) for Punjabis. I think it means bull. ![]()
Re: Name calling
katto means kat lo? ![]()
Re: Name calling
And is it supposed to be offensive?
Doesn’t a bull represent strength?
Re: Name calling
you are taking it positively. Its negative meaning (for people who use it) is bull takes others’ share due to this strength.

Lol how deep! :D
Re: Name calling
These biases are always deep rooted. They take roots in our society very rapidly and people could only know this when it has gone beyond the limits.

with a slight different spelling, some use the same word for their neighbors too

Woh Kesey???
Re: Name calling
Well my Mom is from a Punjabi Family and I have never seen them use these kinda words .Anyways we can't generalize these kind of issues.
Re: Name calling
^ I agree not all people use these words, even if some do, this should be discouraged.
Re: Name calling

Re: Name calling
Literally it means bull, but it also means to refer to “someone who is slow”, and when the word is used it is to infer for the latter.
Re: Name calling
^ something like had haram?
Re: Name calling
^ something like had haram?
Slow in the sense like slow to understand something.
