Name a good movie to watch

I’m looking to watch a few Pakistani movies. In the past I have watched Khuda ke liye, Ramchand Pakistani and that Ghajini spoof.
A good thriller or comedy would do.

check out Khamosh Pani/Silent Water...

it's not a thriller or a comedy but it is better than Ramchand and Khuda Ke Liye, imo.

depends on your taste --

If you can tolerate some cheesiness and the terrible song-and-dance numbers, watch Jeeva (1995) -- has a pretty strong plot and the kind of story that can only happen in Pakistan....Resham and Babur look good too. Has elements of a thriller, vendetta, coming of age, a lot of other genres in it....

Another flick worth watching is Sargam (1995) but it has a terrible print....but everything else is fantastic. No cheese factor here.

I've heard Usman Peerzada's Karz (1997) is watchable too. It's out on DVD. It's a tragic romance from what I hear.

I saw Khoey Ho Tum Kahan (2001) but that movie is terribly uneven, 50-60% of it is fast forward material, even the rest is just barely passe...but Meera does well, esp in the climax. This one is a thriller and if they edited it heavily it would actually be a very good movie.

Watched Khamosh Pani, it was a good movie but not too good. I tried out Jeeva and couldn't complete it. I tried out Sargam and it was good.
Khoey Ho Tum Kahan released in 2001 but print looks like its from the 80's. Don't understand why most lollywood movies have such bad print and sound.

^^ They actually look (and sound) much better in the theater -- however, the people in Lahore have no clue how to transfer 35mm to video, so they just basically take a camera print and add digital sound to it for the song and dance stuff. Telecine is a process alien to them.

I loved Khamosh Pani. and hated Jeeva/Sargam, etc. guess tastes vary.

though I must say that Zeba Bakhtiar looked divine in Sargam. what did that fatty boom boom ever do to get a goddess like Zeba. and why can't I get someone like Zeba.

i'll say watch khamosh pani....and if u want to laugh then watch those punjabi dubbings like butt te bhatti (shanghai knights etc)

Slackistan is fine but they need to get a lot better acting wise and technically before such films are taken seriously. A better indie product from the Pakistan film industry was "Zibahkhana" which was mega-low budget but well shot and a novel concept. "Ramchand Pakistani" is probably the best as far as indie Pakistani products go and a template for other film makers to follow. I just wish it had a better theatrical run and generated some profits for its maker so more such films would be made.

Exactly my thought. Zibakhana and Ramchand Pakistani are much better indie films. Slackistan looks like a homemade movie.
