It’s interesting how even government Ministers are denying things said in the “open” letter..some are even alleging that he didn’t write the letter as it was a government plant.
Talking to Daily Times on the telephone, Niazi said that he had never asked the president or the prime minister to intervene in his case. “The case is still under consideration. How can I tell a lie if the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) summons me? I will be holding the Quran in my hand while appearing before the SJC. He (Bokhari) has created a problem for me as well,” he said.

Anwer also regretted the fact that Naeem Bokhari in his open letter has incorrectly and unjustifiably claimed that he had appeared in a case in the Supreme Court to which reference has been made in the open letter.
yep, i guess everyone sees they have a chance to get some ppunches in while they think Musharraf is down. the statements are coming out days after the whole thing was made public, so it appears they wanted to gauge what the public sentiment is before choosing a side..

I stick by my principles. I question his approach, yet I am not convinced that the CJ is as squeeky clean as he is making himself out to be, and I definitely am not convinced that all the people who are protesting and all are doing it for the right reasons.
I am critical of the way Musharraf behaved and acted. Did the alleged corruption suddenly become so critical that he had to be called to the president house and given a five hour lecture by military general in his uniform. Why couldn't Musharraf wait till Baghwandas came back or why couldn't he recall him back if it was that urgent? All this points towards something more than just what Musharraf is saying. If judiciary is destroyed like this there will be no law left in the country. On the one hand we have people disappearing without trace and on the other the powerful can do what they like. Enough is enough we have to stand up to such acts. Pakistan belongs to Pakistanis not Musharraf.
I am sure we all know why CJ was kicked out. That he was not a lovable fellow gave Mushy a false sense of security that no one will complain. Turns out Mushy was wrong, after all.

It seems like Mushy's attempt to sack the CJ may just be a bigger problem right now, and as we all know success has many fathers, while failure is an orphan. Lets see how this thing settles down.
ehsan bhai, but just because one guy is wrong, does not mean that everyone standing up to him supposedly is right or is doing it for the right reasons or is telling the truth or is an angel.
What is the big issue with teh council hearing the case, what is the big issue with people taking on the prosecutor's role. if the evidence is bunk then its bunk, and it goes away.
what it seems to me is that CJ was involved in hanky panky, and with the whole controversy of the manner of his suspension the focus is being shifted on the manner and not the reasons, even if they are an excuse, even if musharraf had personal issues with CJ.
if this is true than no matter how altruistic or calculated Musharraf's actions were, CJ needs to be answerable to his charges, no matter if the entire nation is corrupt and ministers are corrupt. lets not make excuses on CJs behalf.

there are bigger things at play here than this, foriegn interests as well as interests of institutiosn with acronyms as their names, the rest are just opportunists who are positioning themselves to be seen in a favourable light by whoever gets in the corridors of power soon.
^ Fraudia, your basic assumption is that the proceedings of SJC are above reproach. Well.. let me put it this way.. judges in the SJC are the same kinda Pakistanis ... prone to pressure and buckling under it. If its politically expedient to go one way, then all evidence be damned.
nope nothing is above reproach. I mean even the CJ just said that he is not comfortable with these guys giving a verdict because some of them have complainst against them. and my question then is, so if he was aware of complainst against these guys, as the CJ what did he do then?

hey man I know ghunda gardee very well, my dads offices are still being used by PPP as their regional offices, and my dad does not want to take punga with them.

once a dictator has served the purpose he will be kicked out and replaced by a new one unless genuine elections are held under reputable and honest caretakers (asghar khan, Justice retd wajih and retd justuce Shafiur rehman...there is no scarcity of good people), when chief justice demands an open investigation government doesn't accept it and wants to hold the proceeding closed doors which tells you who is guilty
