Only government employees over the threshold pay taxes, I dont think the rest do...

Most of the employees working for corporations pay taxes. The tax is deducted at source from their salaries. There are issues with under the table payments and non-cash benefits that go untaxed but again those payments are made to the top employees who would be classified as top 1% in Pakistan as well.

I believe it all points to the same sh!t, if judges/policemen are paid properly then they will not be able to bribed, justice system as well as law enforcement will improve.
Sweetequation: everything you mention I believe is pointing to same root-cause. If government does not have sufficient funding it cannot provide basic necessities everywhere in the country. Why are we facing load-shedding? because government is unable to pay circular debt, any guesses why?, electricity crisis is also there because we are stealing electricity, Govt is unable to install more power plants, why?

Why are we facing gas shortages? Because we can’t produce enough electricity (for lack of finances) so industries resorted to using gas which put gas supply under pressure.

Why don’t you stop using roads so government does not have to spend money on roads?
Why can’t we stop stealing electricity?

When we are not doing what we are supposed to do then why take out knives for government when it is not doing what it is supposed to do?

Fulfill your responsibilities first then blame the government.

Its just lack of intent form the law enforcers. Why blame the tax evaders? If they are given an option to pay Rs.1 million tax or Rs.100,000 to the tax guy, which one would choose?

If the government is interested, there are simpler ways to increase tax revenue. A threefold increase in tax on import of cars or luxury fixtures, for example, can be an easy way to indirectly tax only the rich. The only problem is that the decision makers own and use those cars.

You guys are not focusing on the facts only crying about tax

for the past 20 years things are like this dint the government receive a single pany from us pakistanis.

Who support the corrupt businessmen, you think they use megic spells and just disappear without paying tax.

who is supporting the corruption, citizen of pakistan or the government, whose job is to maintain law and order.

We have tax on almost every thing, property, train tickets, air ticket, do we see any good progress

If goverment if facing big financial crises then why do they send the president after every 3-4 months to America, why do they go for checkup aboard why dont they go to the goverment hospital themselve, how come goverment employs of big grade receive so much benifits, big slaries and go on tours aboard all on the expense of goverment. just type on youtube protocol of pakitani president and try to count the cars.

People are not willing to invest, businesses are going down, when try to trace out root causes you will find out these problems were ongoing for years and have worsen to this point, if government had played its role things would have improved. so why dint goverment played the role becuase they dint got tax or they dint paid interest in solving these issues. they get loan from US for what.

We pay sale tax on every thing we buy

Bottom line is, Pakistan goverment is main source of all corruptions.

You think they were unaware of this what nadra disclosed today,

Hehehe i just read your previous post and replyed to that, was not expecting you will say something sensible,

just little off topic... this tax system in Pakistan is really not easy thing to deal with and just because of it many good familes have suffered, i know so many people stuck in these issues. I just get angry when i think about it . I myself had a bad experience regarding tax. My family bought a flat with all bills everything clear, property tax came for 5 year within normal range like 4000/per year but the time we tried to sell it, we came to know there was some pendig tax on this property costing near 30 thousand (with fine charges it hit near 40) and it was all on the name of current owner while it should be all on the name of previous one, we went to the tax department demanding them explaination, after that we had to face big trouble regarding them putting charges on us that the property was in commercial use and we were giving residential tax something like that we went through so much troube (cause we dint had any big source) that at the end we had to sale out the property on loss in order to get out of these stupid issues.

Government is bad all politicians are bad. All politician should be banned lifetime. new people should be hired in all goverment departmetns, well educated people from normal families should go for presidential posts. and regarding police department that should be hand over to army so they shape up well should be given good salries and facilities like the army also under strict control and all problem will solve
