NA passes resolution on South Punjab province,Nisar terms bill as drama!

Islamabad:The National Assembly has passed a resolution on South Punjab province amid protest by the opposition against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani .
The resolution was tabled by Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naik on Thursday. The house also passed a resolution, reposing confidence in Prime Minister Gilani. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lodged strong protest in the house whit its members holding pla cards and chanting slogans against Mr Gilani. The PML-N lawmakers tore apart copies of agenda and hurled on Federal Information Minister Kamar Zaman Kaira. The Nawaz-League lawmakers scuffled with PPP members. The government and its allies exploited the opportunity and adopted the resolution, espousing creation of new province in South Punjab. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) felicitated people of South Punjab and said more provinces should be carved out in the country, including Hazara province.Muhammad Ali Durrani, a senior politician and member of Bahawalpur province movement, termed the resolution an illegal move, saying Gilani and his cabinet was not legitimate after the Supreme Court orders.

Meanwhile
Islamabad: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has termed the passage of resolution on South Punjab province as drama and said that no province could be created without consensus of all the political forces.
Speaking to media outside the parliament on Thursday, he said that no province could be created unless two-third majority in provincial assembly, the National Assembly and the Senate is obtained and it was not possible without consensus between the political parties.
He said that the resolution was not aimed at creating South Punjab province instead it was an effort to create a dispute on the issue.
The PML-N stalwart said that the speaker and deputy speaker showed complete biasness during the proceedings of the house.

**Nisar also said that the speaker was taking side of her own party, there was alot of noise in the parliement could hear a word of the bill !

why all the party who r in allliance with the govt are supporting such acts?**

Re: NA passes resolution on South Punjab province,Nisar terms bill as drama!

At the moment there are far more important issues in the country as compared to the seraiki province, but who can explain that to the government?

For the government winning the next elections are more important as compared to the country itself. The government should have been utilizing it's energies in resolving the Balochistan issue, Karachi, Wot, economy, energy crisis, inflation etc.

Suppose the government forms a new province in a few months how will they fund it? Funds are required to run it and the economy is in a bad shape and I can't see any steps to improve it.

Re: NA passes resolution on South Punjab province,Nisar terms bill as drama!

It is a drama indeed. Nothing at all of worth in this bill other than the race and election card.

Seraiki belt may need a province eventually, but there are other pressing areas, that need a province far sooner...like Karachi. This is an effort by PPP to divide Punjab and secure the seraiki belt by freely supressing the mazarays. This coalition is a waste of space. PML-Q is thaali kay baingun, MQM is a partner in crime in Sindh, and ANP is partner in crime in NWFP. They all need to keep their businesses running, so these coalitions are meant to keep them alive. Once PPP loses in elections, these same parties will be seen running around, trying to forge alliances with the winners.

exactly...

wen every common men understands the situation why the govt is failing to understand this!

Islamabad: Hours after the ruling coalition passed a resolution for creation of South Punjab province, in what appeared to be a tit for tat response the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz submitted a bill to the National Assembly, demanding four new province in the country that might worry the Awami National Party (ANP).
The PML-N resolution stated that four new province be formed in the country. The Nawaz–League called for creation of FATA, Hazara, South Punjab and Bahawalpur provinces.
Hamidullah Jan Afridi, head of joint parliamentary group of parliamentarians from Federally Administered Areas (FATA), appreciated the Nawaz League for moving a resolution, espousing creation of FATA province.

The kind Democracy we are suffering from in Pakistan is license to kill/loot.That's why its more important then anyone's life, more important then any constitution, any institute.
Democracy is on track when no one in power is questioned about their policies, practices.

Re: NA passes resolution on South Punjab province,Nisar terms bill as drama!

**
do we really need a province?

*People’s Party Saraiki Sooba De Gi, Hazara Sooba Chahye *Karachi Ko Alag Sooba Banaya Jaye…”,
**
these are some of the slogans you either read on the walls of the metropolitans or are uttered by the politicians of the country who can do nothing except shouting at the top of their voices. Had they been good for anything but speeches, Pakistan would not be in such a mess!**My question is: Will Pakistan become a prosperous nation if it is divided into more provinces? Will the division of Punjab make things better for the rest of the country? Will the water issue as well as load-shedding of gas and electricity go away once the new provinces come into being?
No. Pakistan needs a lot of steps to better its standing in the world, and creating more provinces is not one of them. More provinces means more heads to demand a solution to the water treaty that has the rest of the provinces at loggerheads. Yes, I know that the people of Hazara as well as Bahawalpur might have a point or two, but once the division starts, it will be difficult to put an end to it.
**
As for the steps we need to take in order to keep the provinces together, there are many but I will discuss a few. First of all, the country needs a local government system so that people from all walks of life can elect a Nazim (mayor) who can help them in their hour of need. The Nazim would be responsible for taking care of his city, and would be sort of a representative to the provincial assembly, if the need arises.
The second thing the country needs is an electoral system that guaranteed free and fair elections so that we can select those who matter instead of those who are just rich and powerful. For that, the government will have to take a stand against feudalism and feudal lords who consider themselves the king of their land. Since that doesn’t seem to happen anywhere in the near future, we might stick to the Nazim thingy, so that those in the urban areas can at least live in peace and harmony.

Suppose we do get rid of the feudals who make life miserable for their fellow human beings, then we need to better the literacy rate of the country. Without a jump in literacy rate, we will end up electing the same old people who will only stuff their pockets and make life miserable. If we do manage to improve our literacy rate, then things will change for the better as literate people will only select whom he/she would consider sane.
And if all that happens, we might be able to live in harmony in these 4 provinces our forefathers had created for us. But it will take a lot of time as well as sincere efforts by honest politicians. Because the current ones want the division to break the vote bank of the opposition, and that has nothing to do with the well being of the people who do cast the votes. So for now, say NO to more provinces, say YES to change.

Re: NA passes resolution on South Punjab province,Nisar terms bill as drama!

Punjab assembly passes resolution on creation of Bahawalpur and south Punjab provinces

Re: NA passes resolution on South Punjab province,Nisar terms bill as drama!

good move , effectively countered the Nefarious racist designs by the racist instigators .

yes , so now lets see ,what is the difference between the South Punjab province proposed by the PPP note not Seraiki Province ] and the Southern Punjab Province of the PML N ...??

in fact I am on the view
Pakistan should , make Bhawalpur , Khairpur and Kalat at Provinces , it will solve a lot of problems

Khairpur , because it will then address the Issue of Seriaki speaking Sindhis , that are about 40% of Sindh's Population .

and Kalat , will restore the STATE as a Province thus legally making it a part of Pakistan , nullifying the claim and correcting the legal issue that should have been corrected as early as 48 .

Re: NA passes resolution on South Punjab province,Nisar terms bill as drama!

Basically there will be two seraiki provinces now instead of one, and besides if the whole seraiki province was formed it would have again become quite a big province and if it is for better management then the provinces should be smaller. Secondly Bahawalpur has been separate till 1950's, so there shouldnt be any problem in that.
