RAWALPINDI: Chief of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid survived an armed attack on his election office here on Monday.

Sheikh Rashid received minor injuries on his leg when he fell on the ground at the time of the attack. However, four of his guards were killed in the attack.

Armed assailants carrying Kalashnikov(s) attacked Sheikh Rashid outside his election office when he was heading on foot to attend a public meeting.

Eaerlier, Javed Qureshi, the personal assistant of Sheikh Rashid confirmed the attack while talking to Geo News from 1122 ambulance in which Sheikh Rashid was being shifted to hospital.

President Asif Ali Zardari has ordered inquiry into the attack and submission of its report immediately.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also ordered the commissioner and RPO to investigate into the incident.

Some of the bullets hit the Land Cruiser of Sheikh Rashid shattering its window panes.

They have spent billions to show them popular.See so called serveys and result of NA 121.
If they loose this seat, It could finsh their politex.
They could not do anything so now they want to finish one. PTI is also not acceptable to them.
They have been using them but now bothPTI and JI are away from them.
Other condidates are also in danger.

[FONT=Times New Roman]I strrongly condemn this incident. After the statement of Rana Sanaullah, I have the feeling that it is done at state level. Aik Teer Main Do Shikar. To assasinate S.S and postpone bye elections. I know these PML-N guys , they are even dangerous than PPP. PPP being a political party is tolerantas campared to N-Leage, you guys heard stories of torturing/killng journalists and victimization of political opponetns during the era of N.S. Any how it is still presumption. I think their plot is backfired being unsuccessful and they are now on the defensive. Lets wait for the outcome and it is impossible police do not recognize the culprits. And remember guys it is not a suicidal bombing or planted explosive. It is target killing and the guys involved were there for quite some time and police station is few yards away from the scene.

Surey, there will be sympathy vote but it is also possible some PML-N voters now inclined towards us. Lets hope this may not hurt our campaign and sympathy vote may not make a big difference. This is my personal views and I may be 100% wrong.

Lastly it is a fact that Sh. Rasheed is a cunning but at the same time a coward person, so he will not risk his life to plot such an incident.

This has been the root cause of the problem, we just get emotional when it comes to our political believes… most of the people of your generation are suffering from it, for example, some worship Bhuto, some are consider Altaf as their god and some are after Sharifs and Bacha Khans.. wake up, smell the coffee… the country is suffering because of this…

Please do not say that this sheikh rasheed or one or two seats in NA would make difference in the party position in the LOTA assembly we have… Let me say that, in his 35 years long political career, what were his achievements? ( Please answer this, normally when were it comes to fact to run away), he was with Bhuto’s Party, later he joinedd Mulla Party then he became part of Dictators party, then he joined Sharif’s Party later he again became the part of Dictator’s govt and now he have started his own party, which so far has one member… if you consider this kind of person eligible for your vote then i may say that you are the same and you deserve worse than Zardari and Rehman Malik…

If we employ someone in our business/company, we spend days to find right candidate, then we go through his track record and past achievements and after all this we still hire on probation but when i comes to select the law makers, we select the worst of the worst…!!! it is about time that we the people of Pakistan should ignore CHALAY HOWAY KARTOOS like sheikh Rasheeeed..

Now as far as the attack is considered, PML(N) would be the last party who shall do something as silly as this, yes it could have been PPP, as they are the back-stabbers as on record they are supporting PML(N) and in reality they are supporting anyone who is against PML(N) ( Typical of Zardari and his worshipers)… i would not discount the factor that Sheikh Rasheed have planned and executed it by himself, looking at his record of his love to the POWER, he has capability to go to any extend to win the seat…

Now please answer these ( if you can and i am sure being PPP’s Jiyala you would not be able to answer these)

You are quite right and there can be no visible improvement by electing Sh Rasheed only but you see , We need some stong voices there not like one C.N. who talks of democracy and meets COAS in nights secretly.
Pindi is in his and one land mafia king's control since decades. If you read this thread I told my intrest months before that Sheikh has some capability to speek the truth and he spoke last days mant times so he is facing.
I have many times said that Pakistan has gone in contol of bechlor digree holders like me and most of them are second or third division like me which could be possible through there being some inflencial those days.Before and after independence we can see thousands highly qualified people on the top but now see the names and know their acadamic position you will be surprised. This is our national tragedy. It started from Ayoub and now all here of same catgory.
I knew Sh Rasheed from 1968 and I never liked him but now

Future of the country only lies in a national reconsilment and truth finding togather. You can not name anyone clear ? How sad.

In Quran there is golden stated, the man gets what he works for, if we are satisfied with a KANA, Allah will guess KANA RAJA ( and he is given us a KANA in form of Zardari and NS) but only if we start looking and two-eyed guy instead of KANA DAJJAL, then yes Allah will bring forward these kind of people from us... they are there but as there is no demand for them, they are not out there...

Very simple, whenever a political party nominate a candidate with inappropriate record likes of Sheikh Rasheed, just have a public rally and let the political party know that their candidate would not be voted if not changed to the right person... I am sure, this will make political parties to get the right people on board... just try it, it will work...we are the people, we are voters, lets move for a change,...

Hmm...I have a feeling that PML-N will not only lose this election but that too very badly...maybe 3rd or 4th position...sheikh rashid is definitely the leader here...maybe followed by Dr kamal...nothing can be said about ijaz jaazi...nawaz sharif has really converted his party into a tanga party due to his confused decisions...the choice of candidates in the bye elections speak volumes...as he thought that he's so popular that even a khamba will win if he nominates that from punjab (leave aside pakistan, as pmln is no where outside punjab)...although due to his policies people now consider pmln as the b party of ppp...

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is due to meet Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at the Army House in Rawalpindi today.

According a handout issued here, Chief Minister Shahbaz and General Kayani will discuss the army’s cooperation to enhance the professional capabilities of Punjab Police in tackling terrorism.

The meeting will also review the ongoing training courses at Elite Forces’ regional centers with the help of army.

In addition, they will also evaluate the possible threats being faced by installation of sensitive agencies.

Nawaz to address NA-55 election rallies

** Party meeting decides not to adopt apologetic attitude over attack on Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif will start addressing public gatherings in NA-55 in the last phase of the election campaign, Daily Times learnt on Wednesday.

According to sources, this decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Nawaz at the Punjab House to discuss the electoral situation after the attack on Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed. The party meeting decided not to adopt apologetic attitude over the attack, and directed its parliamentarians and office bearers from Rawalpindi to mobilise people in favour of its candidate Shakeel Awan and tackle propaganda launched by Sheikh Rashid and the PML-Q.

PML-N legislators told the party high command that Awan’s position was still better than that of Rashid, and Nawaz should address public gatherings in the constituency to further improve the party’s chances of winning the elections. It was also observed that winning the Rawalpindi election was very important for the party as it had already lost the Mansehra by-election. It was also pointed out that the attack on Rashid could be a conspiracy against the party by its opponents. After the meeting, Nawaz Sharif left for Murree and would again visit the capital on Saturday to have another meeting with his party men.

They will ruin their claim of 79% popularity as already shown less than 15% in NA 21

Nawaz Sharif has emerged as the Defender of Zardari, all his statements and actions seems to be in defense of Zardari.. i think this is natural as the two chors are defending each other... I'll be surprised if Nawaz Sharif's party would be able to get anything near to winning....

Even yesterday in his meeting with PM, he was just like a lame duck who have no issues with the problem of people... all he is interested is in defending the system, where zardari and co can loot as much as they want...
