I live in Pindi. Sh Rashid was last time defeated due to his attachment with Q. He is popular in locals. he has built or reconstructed more than 100 schools and colleges during his periouds. One very great work done by him is creation of first women University in Pakistan.(Fatima Jannah University) This was so nice work that his all previous bad attachments even with N or Q should be fargiven and he should must given a chance. I dont like his political attitude or talking but for his work regarding education he should be appriciated. I knew him sice he joined student politex and he like me was from a lower middle class and for coming up he used many tactics. I was also a student leader that time and we belong to upponent sides. the whole city hates shiekh rashid so much that last time he couldnt even get votes in the 5 figures LOL! My grandfather, a businessman in Pindi was the first person to have bailed out sheikha back in his college days, and he went to Gordon College with my dad too. Shiekh Rashid’s support of the lal masjid operation was the final nail in the coffin for his political career.
As for anwar’s predictions, you should dig up this thread some musharraf supporters made about NA-55 before, and long before those elections took place, I told em how sheikha would lose badly, and thats exactly what happened, didnt even get 2nd spot

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has described petition seeking a delay for by-elections as a conspiracy to deprive people of their right to chose.
Addressing an emergency press conference at Awami Muslim League secretariat, Sheikh Rashid appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motto notice of the matter.
He said Nawaz Sahrif neither wants to be part of the present parliament nor is he ready to play a role as an effective opposition leader. “He does not want to oppose the government’s internal and external policies,” Shiekh Rashid observed.
He also termed the delaying of polls as a conspiracy against him, saying “They want to obstruct my way into the assembly.”

LAHORE: Punjab government has filed petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) requesting to defer the bye-polls in the province.
Geo New reported, Khuwaja Haris and Mustafa Ramday filed petition in LHC, on behalf of Punjab government, pleading that the law and order situation is not in the favour of by-polls in Punjab and that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) did not consult the provisional government in this regard.
LHC will hear the case tomorrow.
It may be recalled that CEC has directed to hold bye-polls on November 7th for NA-55 and NA-123 in Punjab.

LAHORE: The Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said Monday nigh he has resolved to reach High Court against by-polls over reports of possible terror attacks issued by federal government.
This he said talking to media after enquiring about the health condition of Zahid Anwar, husband of Tehmina Doltana, here at Sheikh Zad Hospital.
He said Punjab government did not deter of by-polls but this decision came after reports reached here in regard to avoid possible terrorist strikes and to thwart threats posed to chief politicians in Punjab.
The by-polls, if were held in haste, might hit blow to peace and order in province while new wave of terrorism in NWFP has yet another time damaged peace in province, he observed.

LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan received nomination paper to contest NA-123 Lahore in by-elections, Geo News reported Tuesday.
PTI President Mian Mehmoodur Rashid, Mian Hamid Meraj and Imran Khan’s mouthpiece Umar Cheema arrived at the Election Commission, where Mehmoodur Rashid took paper for himself and Imran Khan and Hamid Meraj received papers for himself.
Talking to media, the PTI leaders underscored the need of holding the by-elections and that their party may make seat adjustment with any party.
