MQM will win this seat and PTI may get slightly more votes than last time. You don't need to be a political pundit to figure this out. But that's not the point. For both MQM and PTI, this election campaign holds tremendous symbolic value. For PTI, this elections campaign is baptism of fire. If it won't kill them, it'll certainly make them stronger. Even their campiagn slogan is 'we're only here to break the statue of fear'. In their heads, they are already the winners because they've successfully managed to challenge MQM in their forte, made them panic and made them fear for their future in their own backyard. They once again exposed MQM's thuggery and fascist mentality while strengthened their image as a peaceful and nonviolent democratic party.
Despite the animosity and security risks, Imran is on the ground and courageously leading a campaign with every bit of political pomp in an area that used to be called a 'no go area' for non MQM groups and people. This is an absolutely iconic moment for Pakistani politics, and testament to the fact that PTI has come a long way. I dare the naysayers to come forward and say that whatever's happening in Karimabad/Azizabad right now is not a change.
Hearties congratulations to PTI for standing up to every challenge as a team and finally emerging as a political force and a much needed third option in Karachi/Sindh without restoring to ethnic politics and militancy. They've made their point, now all the very best for the future struggles and adventures.
