I would agree with Ahmad Jee...No extension of life for me either...vegetative or non-vegetative...if there is no chance of survival..i don't need any heroic measures,like ventilators,artficial breathings,feeding tubes,etc etc....

Goliko and ahmadjee, totally agree. Since my family is Catholic and believe they know what my mother and I want more than we do, we both have a living will set to video saying no extreme measures - if there is no quality of life then no vents, no tubes, nothing. It isn't living to be stuck in one place unable to communicate.
On the other hand, since someone mentioned Schiavo. I don't think she falls in that parameter. She doesn't need a vent, she isn't in a coma. She gets a tube to eat. I really believe starving her to death is inhumane. I don't believe she has any quality of life, but the way it is being done is the thing of nightmares. This is one of the few things I grudgingly like Bush for, signing that bill yesterday.

Minah, Bush nor Congress have any right in the matter of Schiavo, it's meddling is nothing short of outrageous. The spouse has the authority to carry out his wife’s wishes as the court ruled. It's frustrating that members of the government would get involved and push this thing onto into federal court. The time and amount of resources that have gone into this personal intrusion is sickening.
