yanzala - it had nothing to do with me. like most of my wedding stuff, ammi and nani had it selected. when nani first saw the necklace upon completion (while ami and i were in the US) she didn't like it cuz she felt the jeweller didn't make it the way ami had wanted, so she had him go back and add in the bottom row of rubies.

it's very hard to find stuff like this ready to go. there's a very different style that's in right now. i wanted to go to shops when i was there to pick out somethign of my own that i liked, but there just wasn't anything that appealed to me, even at reliable jewellers. everything is very big and chunky with a very strong yellowy gold which i don't particularly like.

i also hate that chunky gold jewelry i wanted to have something like kundan. i now those beads are very popular in wedding jewelry but i have seen so much of it that i was getting sick of it. i wanted something like that
actually not exactly like that but it's just an idea to start with, colored gems and not to think neckless and the beads are not very big and chunky also.

Sahar, the jewelry is BEAUTIFUL. The necklace is so lovely! I totally agree about finding quality jewelry that concentrates on the intricacy and beauty rather than on being heavy and garish.

Yeah, she looks very pretty. Her outfit looks really nice. And what really caught my eye was the lipstick. In the pic, it looks nice and bright but not too bright, and the perfect shade. I've hardly seen anyone pull that off, yet it looks really nice on her.

Here’s my wedding jewelry – My mother had the earrings made first and the tikkah and necklace were inspired by it. The jhummar is my nani’s, worn by all of her bahu’s and now will probably be worn by all her granddaughters.

So, you’ve finally decided to post your wedding pics:)
Your wedding jewelry is very pretty; especially the tikah and necklace. I like the contrast you did between the jewelry and the outfit…your outfit looked very simple when you first posted the pics of it but now seeing it on and with the jewelry it actually looks prettier. Also, the color of gold and the red in the jewelry is making the kaam in the outfit stand out. Looking at your pictures i’ve just realized that my jewelry “didn’t” go too well with my reception outfit:(

One thing i couldn’t figure out about your earrings though…i do see that it’s a three jhumkee thingi but what’s the top piece??
