Hellooo! So it’s been a month since i’ve been married! WOW time’s flown! I thought i definitely owed you guys a post especially with all the help that ive been given on this forum! Here goes! (i’m not very amazing at words btw!)
the wedding week started off with various days of dolki’s with all relatives coming round for dancing food and dolki playing
as well as loads of dirty punjabi jokes which i didnt understand ![]()
i remember being really calm and relaxed and just generally loving being with my family some who we only see at special occasions like weddings! then the BIG day was getting closer and i was rushing around getting things organised! running around to book a mehndi artist and booking her two days before the Nikaah! STRESS! The girl who i booked was my cousin’s cousin - Sabina’s mehndi. She has a profile on facebook if anyone wants to check her out. The mehndi that she done was very nice but i do have to say that it wasnt the bridal mehndi that i was looking for - all the same i LOVED IT! Pictures of Mehndi:
poof
LOL yes i know the face looks evil. My mum chose this outfit and i loved it
The kaam/gota was done by my mum’s aunty so it’s a bit sentimental too!
(excuse the pj’s :P)
The mehndi was done after the mehndi event. I will upload the photo of my mehndi outfit but not my face as it was ‘butterz’ - eyebrows hadn’t been threaded as mum would not let me lol so basically i looked a MESS! The mehndi event was VERY BASIC and done in my aunty’s place. We didn’t really wanna spend a lot of money on decor! and i was totally fine by this!
Friday night (day before Nikaah) i showered, got my eyebrows done - sorted myself out! Mum spent hours ironing my lengha! It was hard work!
SATURDAY MORNING!!!
I was up bright and early at 7am waiting for the MUA - Sadaf Khawaja - She arrived promptly and ready to begin! I thought it was very professional as she just started right away with no faffing as i hate faffing. Her makeup was amazing BUT i think she made my skin too white although i think when i wear foundation and it’s the right shade my skin looks a bit fair anyway even though i’m not actually THAT fair tbh. She spent a lot of time perfecting the make-up and was so patient when my stupid eyes kept watering because they’re stupidy sensitive! She was so understanding and totally made me relax! She had wedding/romantic songs on her blackberry and played them and it totally relaxed me and got me excited for the day! She then helped me get dress and when i walked out of the room my whole family was in AWE and my mum couldnt stop staring at me which made me a bit teary and then i couldnt stop smiling even though my mum said to stop smiling!
I then made my way to the venue. The plan was to get there before any guests arrived and hide in the side room. Now my in-laws have a tradition where i wear a ghoongat and no one can see me. My husband has to be the first person to see me. I loved this
it felt all wedding-like. So in the backroom i was sat with the ghoongat although it got a bit irritating so i lifted it up time to time. Then began the long wait for the guests to arrive. I was feeling sick and nervous and excited and HUNGRY lol ahh all the feelings are coming back lol
