I don't think companies just start firing people because they want to make a political statement. It is down to government policies and confidence of the business community in these policies or lack of.

Angela Markel's policies are probably more business friendly and likely to generate growth.

I hear that the property market there is ripe for investment, as it has underperformed most other european markets in the last decade or so.

Its a pressure tactic bro.
Certain lobby wants to have favourable policies. I might be a conspiary theorist, but this is the most logical explanation of how the German economy magically took off again.

I mean if you look at the things this govt. has done, there is no difference from the former one, apart from more US centric approach.
