My Urdu is whack

Re: My Urdu is whack

The best way is to learn from few people - who are still around !

The language they speak at our news channels - well it is no where near the language known as urdu !

Although thesedays - the noha and marsiya NiGari has lost its classical touch but still you will find good urdu speakers in many urdu speaking families , specially in Ahl-e-tasha'ee families ... as many of us migrated from Lucknow , Amroaa , Hyderabad deccan ..

Ah man, there is just a whole other story of older nohay. I am a buddha at heart, tableegh and zulfiqar <3. oh and Akhtar Wasi Ali, Nasir Jehan, and Aftab Ali Kazmi.

My Urdu is pretty decent I guess. We migrated from Agra. Was there some hardcore shayri relation in Agra?

Re: My Urdu is whack

I would recommend getting a book with audio included with it from a bookstore, or if you cant find such a book at any store then look online for one. That way you can elarn in your own time and not feel any pressure or embarassment if you get your urdu wrong.
i also cant speak urdu but intend to learn at some point lol, though none of my relatives speak it at home, its still useful to know when visiting pakistan!

Re: My Urdu is whack

Mirza Asad ullag khan Ghalib was born in Agra - i hope that's enough to float your boat ...
