my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

Okay I dont really visit here much, and i’m not too up on paki stuff while im there, but since ive been here ive made a few observations, hope u dont mind if im repeating anything said before  And if you find this thread doesnt belong in this section of SS, please move it :flower1:

Ive found that Pakistani music videos tend to be more on the creative side, at least more creative than indian/bolly videos.. All indian pop culture has to offer is sleaze, skin and sex very rarely accompanied by quality.. Pakistani videos, in comparison, like Hadiqa’s “iss bar milo” or fakhir’s “mahive” or the video “Khamaj” from Fuzon ( i think its fuzon at least!)… the fact that there are some videos that aren’t trying to ape indian trash (which is only copying western trash), that they’re coming up wiht new and interesting ideas (like 1920s flapper style, or a woman in an insane asylum or an older actress looking back on lost love) says a lot..

I wudnt say there even is any real indian industry because everything they do is a copy of western culture and even Pakistani entertainment..their movies are not creaitve at all, its the same old formula that im sure everyone’s familiar with, guy falls in love with girl, she rejects him, but he wins her over and then his or her parents object, but they all live happily ever after, all in 3 hours…its common knowledge that the singing in the movies isnt’ done by bipasha or aishwaraya, but rather by someone else and its made to pass off as their own voice…now lookit fight club (creative title! :k: ).. the song “chore ke batein” uses half the lyrics and all the music of Ali zafar’s “channo” and “Joshile Jawan ho”, if im not mistaken, uses a bit of “Its’ a beautiful life” (i forget the artist).. kalyug used Atif’s song Aadat.. now whether they stole it or lawfully borrowed it etc etc doesnt matter.. it just shows that bollywood is incapable of coming up with anything on their own

My two cents :snooty:

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

These are so crative and full of artistic touch. Pakistani Music videos are AWESOME, and i mean it literally. Just as there is no comparison of Pakistani and indian cinema, similarly there is no comparison of Pakistani and indian music videos nowadays. Infact, these indian music video are repitiion of the same crap ( remixes of melodious songs turning them into pain in ear and a video so crass that you want to puke)

Pakistani video are of such a high quality that it amzes with. Such a high quality work is done in pakistan. And that is CRITICALLY speaking !

For instance look at the video of **Dhaani **(Strings) it has a very creative and amusing touch. Then there is **Chal dil merey **(Ali Zafar) if you notice the camera is constantly moving, the technique used in this video i first saw in a video of Gun n Roses (if i remeber correctly )

The video of Khamaj is just out of this world. **AnarKali (shoab Mansoor) , Tarey dub gaye ne(Jawad ahmed), Yehi tu hai wo Apna pun ** (Jawad Ahmed) and many more are treat to watch :k:

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

lol i know.

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

Pakistanis have no idea what they've got. Whatever's there, it's comin out pretty badly in the films and the plays now. The Indians on the other hand are and have been the masters of deception. They projected themselves very well even when most of their nation was a slum in the 70s/80s. The gullible Pak folks lap it all up. Their guys/gal are not even remotely goodlooking -- relatively speaking, that is. They just BRING em up on the screen that way -- they have worked really well with the lights, the lenses and whatever else you need to transform to bad and ugly to presentable. And the naive folks on this side of the divide go all goo eyed when they see it. Just take a trip to Indoland and get a reality check of what its like and your eyes would open up.

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

haan femme, but moderator saab might disapprove. where is my fellow indophile and hindi expert TNWB?

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

Yup, this is defnitely true. Just look at any of their interviews.

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

That's not true. A lot of them are goodlooking.

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

^ Thas coz they're mostly mixed, between indian and european... the average indian/paki does not look like jon abraham or dino morea or aishwarya because these ppl r mixed.

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

I think it has been brought up before that since India's movie industry is so dominant in India, there is a lack of creativity on the pop/rock side. If someone does come out with a pop album, it doesn't do as well as a movie album where the same guy has sung the songs for the movie! So it probably in turn becomes a huge deterent for the pop singer/band to come out with individual albums when they can easily sing for an Indian movie and make more money.

In Pakistan, the pop scene/underground bands are flourishing because people do want some sort of live entertainment in their lives which our movies/tv don't really provide. And I gotta give props to the people directing the videos - some of them are indeed amazing!

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

totally agree with you

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

:k:
good thread and fully agree with u Sara, Bollybuster, and code red

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

the movie rang de basanti has good songs!! i love that song rubaru!!

i think india has lots of plus sides and so does pakistan it just seems that we all have to dislike india but im not one of those, im willing to appreciate when they can entertain me!!even pakistani artists that are selling their songs now are doing it cause they want to no one is forcing them to go to india, they go their for their own reasons. India steals for its own reason what can we do!

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

well obviously the average person in India/Pakistan doesn't look like a movie star but John Abraham's type isn't very uncommon in Pakistan cuz he's not very european looking or anything. Lightish skin, black hair, brown eyes, 6'0 ft tall, average nose= that describes almost every guy in my family. And almost every Indian girl looks like Aishwarya Rai to me sans the blue eyes and the light skin and maybe the thin nose.

Re: my take on pakistani and indian entertainment

i just realized that u said ’ that’s cuz they’re mixed’ in response to ‘a lot of them are goodlooking’. I didn’t know u had to have european blood to be good looking.
