My religion under attack

i feel so sick, almost like throwing up subsequent to reading some of the comments made by BNP leader Nick Griffin. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/3898695.stm

…] [Griffin] said Islam “has expanded through a handful of cranky lunatics” and “is now sweeping country after country”.

…] Asked whether he thought Islam had expanded due to rape, a theory he had previously stated, he said: “It’s one of the ways in which it’s expanded, it’s also expanded as the Koran tells its followers to do so - it’s expanded at the point of the sword.”

He added: “You give me 20 minutes or an hour - a special programme to dissect the Koran and I will show you that we have a monster in our midst.” …] Another member said he wanted to “blow up” Bradford’s mosques with a rocket launcher.

~ ~ ~

What kind of sick mentality is this? When Imam Qaradawi recently came to the UK for a visit, the media pounced on some of his comments and tried to portray him, based upon comments that he had not even articulated during this London trip, as a homophobic, wife-oppressive Imam. He repeatedly tried to clear himself up…but to no avail. The media couldn’t resist their lovely soundbites of having a bearded Muslim cleric, who allegedly favoured death for gays/lesbians and beating of your wives, playing again and again during the news. But this BNP guy can come out with such awful things against Islam and Muslims… but that is portrayed differently in the media than Sheikh Qaradawi’s comments. This BNP guy can openly declare that we have ‘monster[s] in our midst’ - and everyone seems to be less riled up about that than attributed comments to Sheikh Qaradawi.

i mean, honestly… people talk about Muslims being intolerant. No i’m sorry. This is Islam under attack. Simple as that. i can’t believe this is 2004 and i am reading such filthy vile comments. Makes me sick.

it has been the case for a very long time. and I really doubt if this would ever end. if one would die other would born to say such ill things.

: ), just becuase s'one has been disrespectful doesn mean you do the same. Just a suggestion as a brother

In my view each of us has the right to know the truth for oneself and in the process critical study of all claims, evidences and arguments is necessary. The objective is to look for flaws between the claims and the evidences to realise the inconsistency.

Not allowing this has always been the problem even amongst muslims themselves but going over board is also not necessary as some people do because that serves no purpose other than inciting hatred and violence.

The problem is more complicated in UK by home secretary david blunket proposing a law that people think will stop them from scrutinising and criticising islam because it offends muslims.

So it is not only bnp to be blamed but some muslims as well, for creating problems that lead to unpleasant and awkward results.

Re: My religion under attack

Nadia islam is under attack this is clear

these events in UK are not surprising

I think you should also look at the timing of these events and it is political manipulation at its most obvious.

Blair is exposed as liar by Butler Government report few days ago and also there is local election in Parts of UK same time.

This BNP group is exposed in media and shown to muslims at exact time. Nice way to deflect attention away from Blair and Government and focus on muslims and terrorism yet again!

Hadith in which the Prophet (saw) said: "Soon the nations will call one another against you, just as people call one another to eat from a platter of food." A man asked: "Will this be because we will be few in number, O Messenger of Allaah?" He (saws) replied: "No, you will be large in number, but you will be like the froth/scum on the surface of a body of water, and Allaah will remove from the hearts of your enemies their fear of you and shall place Wahn in your hearts." Those present asked: "What is Wahn, O Messenger of Allaah?" He replied: "The love for this worldly life, and hatred of death." (Sunan Abu Dawud)

yep i agree makes u sick in the stomach that these ppl are living in the UK and in 2004,,, i suppose due to the high number of converts the rest of the bristish ppl are freally threatened by islam spreading.,, n dat was their foul attempt to stop it. sad really sad!

BNP is racists. no doubt about it. Unfortuantely here is the other side of the mirror.

An Invitation To Sikhs And Hindus To Embrace The Truth
Jul 13, 2004
Press Release: Al-Muhajiroun, UK

Hundreds of Muslims from across the UK are set to converge in London’s Trafalgar Square on the 25th of July for the Annual Rally for Islam. This year will be the 9th anniversary of the rally and promises to be the best yet.

The British public will once again witness many non-Muslims: previously Jews, Christians, Hindus & Sikhs (idol worshippers), Atheists, Socialists etc giving up their false beliefs and ideologies in order to embrace the divine way of life which Islam offers to them openly and publicly. Debates and discussions on the inimitability of the Qur’an and the finality of the Message (of Islam) from God through the Messenger Muhammad (saw) will be held, with an invitation for all present to either refute Islam or accept its superiority. The speakers will also set out to present Islam as the only real future for Britain and indeed the World in terms of maintaining Honesty, Home-land Security, Morality, Mental well being, Family protection, continued scientific and material progress, psychological health as well as providing a comprehensive code for humanity to live their life by.

The Square will also host a number of Marquees presenting various aspects of Islam such as its unique economic system able to solve the problems of inflation, the hoarding of wealth and the fair distribution of resources -Islam’s unique social system which eradicates the exploitation of the sexes and eliminates promiscuity, pornography and sexual deviancy and Islam’s ruling system based upon the concept of sovereignty for God alone, where man is not a dictator (like Bush or Blair) but rather God’s trustee on Earth managing mankind’s affairs according to God’s infallible law…etc…

Here is a message to all the Sikhs and Hindus; put your pride to one side and accept the Truth. Yes, Islam, the religion that you detest the most is really the only religion that will help you when you leave this life.

To the Hindu’s; forget the caste system and all the fuss about reincarnation and accept the fact that everybody is equal in the eyes of God and all will be accounted on the Day of Judgement. As for the Sikhs, acknowledge, that as a man-made system your belief is really just a hotpot of different religions and opinions “jumbled together”.

The fierce disagreements between Muslims and Hindu’s have been going since the advent of Islam.

Historically, the effect of Islam in the Indian sub-continent region was instant. Its emphasis on One God corrected many of the social issues and “mystical” beliefs associated with Hinduism at the time. The caste system was seen in its true nature; a racist structure geared to preserve the rich over the poor. Islam offered those at the bottom of the organization a way of being equal and simultaneously having a belief system that fitted naturally with the human self.

The Hindu tradition of worshipping idols was (and still is) seen as a major act of ignorance, as creation can never worship creation, particularly when there is a Creator who has designed and established everything from apples to zebras. Also, the heavy emphasis on superstition places the individual under much stress in his daily life. Islam in comparison has no place for false notions as everything is under the control of Almighty God therefore dismissing any talk of good or bad luck.

As mentioned, Islam corrected the numerous inadequacies Hinduism imposed on society; thus impressing on intellectuals such as Guru Nanak (the founder of Sikhism) that the religion of Muhammad (saw) was in fact the truth. However, Nanak could not accept Islam in its entirety so chose just the key features that favoured him and the people.

However, because Sikhism is man-made it has many weaknesses, all Sikhs must ponder the following: Firstly, the religion lacks depth and is easily brainwashed by more dominant systems. Hinduism still has a great influence on the Sikhs as the caste system highlight – the idea that everyone is equal in the eyes of God is rarely practised by the Sikhs, as inter-caste marriage is still a taboo subject. Secondly, Nanak made no claims to divinity or to kinship with God and did not want to be worshipped as a kind of prophet (K.Singh, 1953). But, today many Sikhs do this by hanging a picture of Nanak and directing their prayers towards it. Thirdly, unlike Islam where the doctrine has stood firm for over 1400 years, Sikhism has evolved; taking in new directions with every new Guru. Key elements of the religion have been dramatically altered such as the treatment of the dead; in Nanak’s time they were buried whereas today they are cremated. Surely, these facts that are just a scratch on the surface emphasise the lack of Divinity found in this belief.

Islam offers the individual and society peace, happiness and security as everybody acknowledges his and her Creator, Allah (swt). All the problems that man faces are not sorted out via various mystical ritual acts but through having Trust in Allah (swt). Islam is the religion for the whole of Mankind, whether somebody comes from Africa, Asia or Europe. Furthermore, the love of money, which is so rife in both Hinduism and Sikhism, forcing some people to be treated or considered insignificant because they do not have the latest BMW or Mercedes, is considered unimportant in Islam. The good deeds of an individual in this life and worthwhile actions that are not motivated by economic reasons will help the Believer to attain blissful happiness in Paradise.

The Seal of Messengers, Prophet Mohammad (saw) said that at the lowest level of Paradise each person will have up to 10,000 servants! Another saying of the Holy Prophet (saw) was in relation to the love of this life to the Hereafter. He said (saw) the material life of this world is like a drop of water whereas all the delights in the next life are equivalent to the Ocean.

So, the message to any Sikh and Hindu is do your research and ask yourself “are you Sikh or Hindu because you really want to be or is it because your parents are”. Remember, on the Day of Judgment, no religion will be accepted from Allah except Islam. Come to Trafalgar Square on the 25th July 2004 and give up your false beliefs and accept the perfect and embrace Deen of Al-Islam.

“And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers.” [EMQ 3:85]

^ idiots and morons..all of them.

The world of the islamic and christian powers is about to be superceded by the powers of the Kafir. Make way for the Indians and Chinese..people.. :jhanda:

:k: Shabaash that’s a very objective, unbiased source. Keep it up.

half the stuff pasted from islamic website and pawned off as scholarly material is biased...what is the difference?

Nadia, are you prepared for Dylan McDermott's new show, "The Grid"? It's all about Muslim terrorists.

Nadia,

It is my personal belief that Islam is under attack. That does not make the attack completely irrational. There are really only a few choices. Endure this type of outrage, until it blows over, or clean your own house.

We all know that 95% of the Muslims walking this earth are rational, religious, wonderful people. Of the extremist 5%, perhaps a fraction of a fraction are actually violent in the name of Islam. The remaining portion of the five percent are not violent, but noisy. The constant "noise", is unnerving enough, but to realize that behind the bluster there are actually those commited to violent change. Now why should people get all worked up about this? People visualize an iceberg. They are scared of a much larger problem. To me the radical clerics are the control point. Somehow Greater Islam must make violent leaders outcasts from their own religion. The most senior of worldwide clerics must assume control and responsibility for the problem. They are the only ones who will be listened to.... They must present a united front, and demand change from the radical clerics, or banish them.

Until Islam is seen as taking contol over the troubled few, the backlash cannot be controlled, as you have irrational people saying bizzare things either out of fear, or taking advantage of the situation.

Re: My religion under attack

I saw this program. The BNP are despised just as much by non muslims as by muslims.

But they have quite clearly taken Islam as their enemy. So much so, that even some Sihk and Hindus have joined them (how stupid are they, what do they think will happen to them after they kick out the muslims  ). Their trying to use Islam as a common enemy to unite all ‘their’ people against us.

Also, you should have heared their interpretation of the Quran:rolleyes: .

The media bias against Islam was expected. What else would you expect, them to promote Islam?

Quite correct..now view the BNP bull**** the same way.

Mehnaz, No i haven’t. Did you see that in Canada?

And btw, i have heard the song by Simply Red (Holding back the years). One of my favs. :k:

OG, What do you mean by until “Islam” is seen as taking control? How can a “religion” take control. You mean MUSLIMS, not Islam. When Billy Graham makes his comments, i don’t respond with “Until Christianity is seen as taking control”.

Anyways i agree that yes extremists need to be reined in. But honestly, i am tired of having to clear up the air each and every time. If people can’t be bothered to differentiate between a religion and its adherents, then even i am losing my patience. i am not around to be some spokesperson for every single Muslim’s actions. Nor is that even logistically/pragmatically feasible even if i was willing to assume that role. Every time something blows up somewhere, i’m sorry but i don’t have the patience to justify my religion. Especially if i am exposed to idiotic comments by morons like Nick Griffin who make a mockery of my beliefs. There is only so much i can explain - understanding is a two-way street and i need/expect people to meet me halfway as well.

Stupid Idiot, Wise One, Ak47, i agree.

MMughal, Thanks for all those links. Some sad comments in those.

Sorry i am not sure if it’s my computer, but the fourth one was not working.

ChannMahi, Jihadunspun is some stupid online website. The BNP is a political party that actually gained some seats in the last election. Bit of a difference there.

now worries

BNP is a thug type party.

Here are some of the comments received by the BBC,
We live in a democracy and unfortunately that is the price we pay. I found the programme to show possibly the worst side of human nature - they are not “politicians” but racist agitators. Thoroughly disgusting.
Caroline Erickson, Glasgow

Just as the Muslims should be able to state their views freely in England, so should Nick Griffin. He is entitled to his views, and as this country remains one in which the right of free speech can be exercised I fail to understand what all the fuss is about!
Christopher Wilson, Dartford, kent, England

So the BBC has spent thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money to come up with the world-beating exclusive that the BNP is a racist organisation? What next, an in-depth investigation proving that the Pope is, in fact, a Catholic?
Daoud, London

Congratulations to the BBC for broadcasting this brilliant documentary and exposing the BNP as the nasty, vicious bunch of extremists that they are. Against a worrying background of rising and possibly misguided support for the BNP, I particularly applaud your determination to take a stand and expose the truth behind the charade of smiles and respectability that this wicked party has propagated in recent years.
Chris, London, UK

What a one-sided documentary full of provoked statements (in the pub, using alcohol?) Of course the BNP are racist, but this documentary is nothing but a smear, I am looking forward to the BBC documentary about Abu Hamza and his followers.
Matt, Plymouth

These disgusting individuals should be stripped of their nationality and shipped out of our country. I am proud to stand next to English people of all colours, religions united against Mr Griffin and his followers who are clearly nothing but thugs whose intelligence is too minute to be measured.
Brendan MacLean, Birmingham, UK

Let these people stand for election and be humiliated at the ballot boxes

Emma, London
I watched the documentary last night and I think this is an example of why we should retain total freedom of speech in this country. This programme allowed the British National Party to expose themselves as the thoroughly unpleasant organisation they are. Let these people stand for election and be humiliated at the ballot boxes. This is what they deserve. Depriving an entire nation of its democratic rights with extreme political correctness is not the answer.
Emma, London

Incredible journalism delivered with professional precision. The revulsion we all felt shows how far general society in this country has come. The BNP’s days are numbered. Well done, BBC.
Tim H, UK

Sadly - but predictably - Nick Griffin is being lambasted for telling the truth. It certainly seems to me - based on the evidence - that Islam is characterised by near-psychotic levels of hatred, and by insensate cruelty. He is fundamentally a good man, trying to warn us of the coming clash. Beyond doubt, time will prove him right.
Jeremy, Edinburgh, UK

I really don’t understand how this was an expose. How could anyone not already have known that the BNP party is an organisation of racist thugs? How they are allowed to masquerade as a political party in this day and age is beyond me. I thought we defeated the fascists in the 40s.
Sieffre ap Bryn, Llantrisant, Wales

This is the best publicity that the BNP has had for years. It is very sad but there are plenty of people out there who agree with these people. Seeing BNP activists in their ‘true colours’ will reinforce such beliefs. They will be encouraged by the fact that BNP activists might not always say what they want to hear due to political correctness and the law, but they certainly think in racist terms.

There is nothing wrong with expressing an opinion about a religion, even if it is a negative one

Michael, York, UK
There’s two issues here. Firstly, the BNP have been shown up for the nasty brainless thugs they are. Secondly, Nick Griffin has given his opinion on Islam. Talking about “blowing up Mosques” is clearly out of order, but there is nothing wrong with expressing an opinion about a religion, even if it is a negative one. You have to differentiate between opposition to a set of religious beliefs and hatred of a person because he holds those beliefs. Griffin’s view may not be popular, but he is entitled in a free country to hold it.
Michael, York, UK

the programme didn’t really surprise me. What does surprise me is that we need a news broadcaster to do what the government/police should have done years ago.
Matt, Chelmsford, UK

Yes please do, because if they keep reproducing at this rate, they need all the room they can get
