okay just got back from pakistan…and i designed my shadi GHARARA entirely out of scratch…i went with pictures of gharara’s that i wanted (just like the red gharara picture)
…the work was shown to me and everything…it was beautiful…
I had to leave pakistan and my mom was gonna bring back my final made gharara…i was soo excited…
the work is beautiful and everything just like how i wanted it…except the gharara!! i wanted it to look like really big pants (like a big lehnga) i mean like how a gharara is supposed to look! except it came out bell bottomy!
theres soo much “chunnat” by the knee where the gharara is supposed to start, and it looks like bell bottom pants with amazing work on it…
I was soo in shock, I was wondering if the crazy “chunnat” can be opened to make it look bigger, but my mom said that it will be ruined if we try to do anything plus we live in the states…i can’t even take it back to the store!
the “flare legged” gharara is pretty but it doesn’t seem like a bridal lehnga… they look like pants, like one of the guests would wear to my wedding! it literally looks like the blue outfit picture!
can something be done?? or am i stuck wearing the bell bottom to my wedding?? help!!! (sob sob sob) im so heartbroken…

OMG!!! I hope u can do something about it. whens the wedding?? I had a sharara once it had loads of chunnat and opened it n got stitched it from a darzan but then it was Pakistan.
May be u can try going to a desi shop in ur area they can help u out......
You can salvage it.. by either opening-up some of the 'chunnat's' and getting a new piece added on the top of the 'gote' or u may wear a longer kameez with the gharara that u have.
I guess you've got plenty of time..... if u wanna ask the person who made it to get it rite with the gher etc.... any relatives thr or sum1 goin send it back with them n when ur family will come to ur wedding u can ask them to bring it over...
Sorry bad idea may be... but i just hope u can do sumthin abt it InshAllah...

the person that I know lives in NJ... perhaps you can go to one of the desi shops in your area and see if they can fix it... I'll forward your pictures to her and see if she has any suggestions...
Re: My Outfit is Ruined! Please Help!! sob..sob..sob...
why dont u save that dress and wear it after ur wedding sometime (only if it wasnt too expensive). if u can invest in another suit, go ahead and get that made.
orrr listen to the rest of the girls and just try to get it altered to ur needs
take advantage of the fact that you have plenty of time still and send it back to pak. it will be very difficult for someone else to alter a heavy lehnga if they don't specialize in bridals etc. send it back to the person who made it and they will probably be able to fix it or make you new one very easily. if you've got no one coming or going simply ship the bottom part/skirt back. it won't be too expensive to mail since the dupatta is usually the heaviest part and you only need to send the skirt back.

Get the telephone number of the guy who has made it for you. before you courier to him, talk to him and ask if he can fix this problem. If yes, then go ahead, where you have spent so much, let few dollars be more. Otherwise all what you have spent on it is going to be in waste. Take advantage of the time you have.
Re: My Outfit is Ruined! Please Help!! sob..sob..sob...
The lower half with the chunnat can be easily stitched onto another upper part. What you wanted was kali-yoan wali gote and what they made is without them. You have plenty of time. Send it back to pakistan and they'll fix it. It's not a difficult one to do :)
Re: My Outfit is Ruined! Please Help!! sob..sob..sob...
but the part with the chunnat is the one that needs to be opened....so do we just open the chunnat to make it bigger, or is there more process to just opening the thread?
Why don't you go to the bazaar section and email the GS vendors, and see which one of them might be kind and dependable enough to help you out... you have enough time and you love the work so put in a little extra but wear what you had your mind and heart set on....
Some of these ladies are superbly knowledgeable and also have great tailors and kaarigars who can fix stuff as well....
Re: My Outfit is Ruined! Please Help!! sob..sob..sob...
what you are describing sounds like a proper gharara. i havent seen it, so i cant say for sure, but you would probably look like a bride because as you said, its heavily worked and when you put on your makeup, your jewelry and the dupatta on your head, it should look graceful. lots of brides wear that shape (pic of blue gharara).

aww thanks soo much bride2be...that made me feel a bit better...maybe your right...there is extreme kaam on it, and with all my jewelry and stuff it would look nice, but im still not gonna stop from trying to see if i can fix it...i only get 1 day out of my life to look like how I want to look as a dulhan...so im gonna try my hardest to get a hold of some tailors...
if anyone knows any good bridal tailors in chicago, please let me know...
