My observation

Is this true what I have seen that many muslims who pray five times have very organized life and in general have calm and peaceful attitude towards life?

Re: My observation

To be honest, and im giving you a totally unbias response. It does. ALWAYS for me it has made me calm, peaceful, and content with everythign around me.

Thats why the problem is not seeing what hte result of prayer is for me, its praying it on time, and everyday that is the hard thing to do for us.

Re: My observation

in general yes.

Re: My observation

Yes ofcourse.

Re: My observation

yes

Re: My observation

Aren't this the quality of muslims who say prayers ?

that it (salah)stops them from vulgarity and Munker

Re: My observation

As mentioned above its difficult for us to do at times but perhaps we are not aware of the direct and indirect effects of it. For some it would look like just a ritual but for those who really get to it have experienced its good effects.
Have others really observed change in their lives or of friends and families?

Re: My observation

no.
i was praying five times a few years ago and my life was very organized.
now i dont pray five times and my life is still very organized.
im a very organized person actually. i get that from my dad.

Re: My observation

Taking time out to pray during work (zuhur and asar n sometimes maghrib) does take time management.. waking up early for fajr, takes himmat etc etc.. so yeah I think it does lead ot an organized life :bummer:

Re: My observation

praying namaz and Quran shareef - gives me sakoon no doubt about that.

Re: My observation

Yes it does! Allah-Akbar!
Khalid Yaseen told a story about prayer. It's funny.
There were two robbers. So they talk about going to a bank and robbing it.
They wake up and say let's go in the afternoon. But they remembered Zhur time comes in that time, so they say okay after Zhur. So one guy meets up with the other guy at the bank and then they remember, "o, it's Asr time"! So they go and pray Asr. By the time they arrive at the bank, it's Maghrib! The bank closed... lol

Re: My observation

i believe any person who is following his own religion faithfully is generally an organized person.

i know some christians and hindus who are religious people and are organized...... also i have noticed are stress free.

Re: My observation

Praying five times a day with proper intention and giving salah its time has always helped me, alhamdulillah. However, I'm in a habit of rushing through my salah and end up ruining it for myself.

Overall, Allah (SWT) has been extremely kind and merciful toward me, alhamdulillah.

Re: My observation

Not necessarily. Heart and spirit matter.

Re: My observation

^^ and how can u make ur 'spirit' calm?..... definitely by doing something good... and the only thing u can do good is to make ure Lord happy by any action...and u can do that only by praying do stuff that Allah told u to do...and thanking Him and Him only all the time....

Re: My observation

for me rather than organization, it did manage to discipline me in other ways such as controlling my thoughts on given times...being concious of time, being alert and etc.

organization came from understanding the Qur'an and which does make our lives easier to live by.

i tend to either be really messy or extremely organized :

Re: My observation

When someone plan for prayer it involves many other pre-requisites like being clean physically as well as in thoughts. This requirs a person to be somewhat organised....mentally and phyisically.
For example the person would not engage in mind altering (or adultrating) activities and the person will not do acts which will make the person unclean.....(e.g. using bathroom but not cleaning after)

So, doing this all day long eventually helps person to be able to focus and manage affairs in more organised way by being a bit 'obsessed'. Imagine someone in these days actually thinking for next morning prayer (the toughest time to pray for many) and be clean prior to that...........;)

Re: My observation

Prayer or regular meditation like Yoga do in fact help people lower their blood pressure and provide a channel to become calm.

However we must remember that prayer is just a means to an end, and not just an end.

Good thing about Islamic model of meditation (prayer) is that it helps to match the daily routine with the circadian rhythm. By allowing our bodies to follow this rhythm has many healthful benefits.

The problem is that many Arabs have started using prayer and mosque as a place to end life instead of extending life.

So I urge Pakistanis or Non Resident Pakistanis (NRPs) to stay at least 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) from Arab inspired prayer places. This action alone will help you draw true benefits of this great way of meditation.

Re: My observation

sorry to disappoint you but you can't generalize, I have seen all sorts of people who pray 5 times a day but are just like any other Tom Dick and Harry, why ? We have lost meaning of prayer/salat.

Re: My observation

Why should I be disappointed? I merely posted what I observed in majority of people I saw praying or trying sincerely to pray five times a day.

My perception from those who are struggling for or even succesful for praying five times is a bit positive in regards to their obvious attitude towards life which is being organised and calm and peaceful.......obviously not everyone can vouch for that.

I am very much aware of 'Tom Dick and Harry sort of people' praying 'five' times...... (or perhaps less since I am not always there to observe them praying).
