When I said disappointed, I meant that your observation is not accurate. One of the benefits of salat is calmness and those who strive for ba-jamat salat are likely to be people respecting timeliness of things (waqt-ke-paband), disciplined. You may be right in your observation, either I have observed wrong people or hanging out in wrong crowd :D

YES but with true love of Ahlay-Baith (A) only, otherwise I see lot of muslims they are like people who go to temple for 5-10 min. and once they are out they do whatever is good for them - no law no rule is followed. sometimes worse than animals. nothing controls their minds and heart. non-muslims also belive in Allah and do prayers but many do nothing which pleases Allah. That is why Allah has created a pure medium, the ahlay-baith (A). this medium is between us and Allah.
Every Act of momin is Ebadat, Namaz is one Ebadat but there are other equally important Ebadats. The purpose of Ebadat is not peace and prosparity only. It is Thanks and renewing our commitment that I will always try to please Allah and fear Allah. In other religion worship is only for money and peace.
If you want to see the proof, read saying and life of Ahlay-baith(A).
This is the only love which protects us from shaitan and shows the right path to Allah(S).
Shaitan was great namazi and never refused to pray allah but was expelled from heaven because he refuses to recognize the medium between him and Allah. be-careful from those who talk only namaz and nothing and use it as propoganda for their own interest. This act is an act of Shaitan malaoon.

Nice discussion guys.....As far as Salat goes it definitely effects general routine of things. I was not a regular Namazi few years ago despite best efforts of my parents. But i did notice that when i started namaz regularly it had a very calming effect on me. I dont do it on time because of being at work but even then i think namaz makes you feel satisfied that someone with much greater power is watching over you and things no matter how they are will turn out right. So its a matter of belief ... thats why people from all religions who follow their religion tend to be calm because of their belief in greater being. This doesnt mean at all that you leave everything to Allah and just say your namaz and everything will turn out ok...off course we all have to do our part of the job and then pray and leave it to Allah because He Knows whats best.
Its true that not every organised person id Namazi and vice versa but it definitely helps and cultivates a disicipline
