Re: My Niece
BarbieCue, I'm talking about her niece, not her sister. As for her sister, she's going to have her opinion, regardless of whether Hareem travels to Pakistan and shows her that she's not oppresed. You cant' change peoples' mentality.

This is not the place for either.

Re: My Niece
General comment: I wish people would stop blaming hijab for (negative) opinions people have of them, when it comes to other muslims. It's an easy way out out to say people are hating on you because of hijab/beard. In reality it's usually got nothing to do with that.
^ you'd be surprised.
Re: My Niece
Even though words hurt - don't try to take anything that comes out of a 19 year old girl to heart :)
Girls in Pakistan are not what they used to be.. Us british girls are seen as more backward and old fashioned. Anyways girls and boys in Pakistan are out of control... my mum just got back from lahore and some of the stories she told me, shocking.
Right because NOT wanting to stay at home and be a housewife means you're "Out of Control"

Right. How do we know that Hareem's neice doesn't look down upon Hareem because of Hareem's views, which she might find, like many others, suffocating?
She's 19!!
You're dealing with a child, she still has so much growing to do. And I don't know why you even care about what she thinks. **The fact that you're protected by ALLAH through the hijab **and you have a loving husband, anything else is minor compared to what you have.
But I guess it's all about the inner happiness.
So Allah doesn't protect those of us who don't wear hijab?
I can see why her neice feels the way she does.
well done.
you know when she is passing by you, kick her on knee joint from behind. More like with you foot push her knee forward. that will cause her to fall on her knee. Then punch on her face real hard. and say "who is the B now"
And if she whines "I never called you B" you say "I know B"
and punch again.
PS: I did not sleep enough last nite.
She's my niece, koi aur hoti tou aisa hi kerti. lol

I'm talking about my family here and I wouldn't be ashamed to admit that I know my family very well. The hoo haa they created over me wearing hijab few years back, I still remember that.

I don't like quoting you and talking to you. I'm sorry.
Re: My Niece
If you know the rest of your family doesn't share your ideas on religion, then you probably should not be volunteering to find rishtaas for any of them. Not for vengeful reasons, but practical ones. Your neice does not act and think like you, so she probably wont get along with anyone in your social crowd in the UK anyway. Common sense.
Re: My Niece
Jesus
seriously hareem???
ok I read it now.
So you are saying.. you are doing your life exactly the way you love it.
And some one who have no clue what you are all about or what you priorities are, say some stupid and that make you miserable ??
Wow
This one thread is good example to look into women's brain. It tells a lot about why they are so unhappy all the time.
I don't like quoting you and talking to you. I'm sorry.
But I love quoting you, and talking to you, because there is so much wisdom to be achieved by that.
:)

And thats exactly what I meant by "you'd be surprised".
Even when I started wearing a hijab, some of my relatives really over-reacted (which I couldn't care less about) but the sad thing is, they were all muslims!
PS: JimmyKimble, I'm sure some negative comments from your own sister about you would also make u upset. Its human nature.
Hareem, if anybody puts you down, you need to just take one look at your boys and feel pride. You are an exceptional mother and wife (from what I read from your posts, that is my conclusion), and it's hurtful when family members/relatives make these kinds of comments.
The girl is only 19, and immature by default. Try not to let it get to you. I am assuming she has very little life experience. Her opinions will change as she grows emotionally and experiences the various obstacles life will throw at her.

Thanks Mehnaz. I regard you as a mature and respectable person and I'm truly honoured.
I think they will change their minds[my sis and niece]. It's been a long time since they've met me, I planned to go last year but couldn't due to some problems and house move.
But I love quoting you, and talking to you, because there is so much wisdom to be achieved by that.
:)
Thanks if you truly think this.
