And the fact about his grandfather's sisters ecstacizing to Arabic music, perhaps a lack of education on her part? You don't see everyday Pakistanis stand around Arabic speaking guys in qiyyam position as if they're reciting Quran. Paracha is using his grandfather's sisters' ignorance of the Arabic language to jettison his ideas. Epic Fail if you can see through it.
Though not her fault, but sly on his part to use it to further his usual rants. Even more sly because some friends use it to further their usual rants. Tsk tsk all around.
You're trying to kill the messenger (btw, he kind of looks like today's Taliban in that pic than hippie :D). :
Also, which part of what he said bellow you disagree with?
I do not disagree with the fact that many Pakistanis think of Arab Culture as being superior to ours (because of religious reasons mainly). I am just saying that a lot more than those people think that Western culture is superior to ours (because of whatever reasons).
My question is simply why ignore the second kind of people who are many many more times in numbers than the first kind, if loss of our cultural identity is a problem? Why is it okay for himself to adopt hippie culture and dress and think like them but it is not okay for someone to adopt Arab way of dressing or talking? We lost our cultural identity both ways.
The west is indifferent or would want other countries to emulate it (free trade one example), but arabs or iranians couldn’t care less or actively despise pakistanis trying to copy them. Zameen asmaan ka faraq hai how west treats pakistanis compared to them even after 9/11 so self-respect automatically should come in if you are trying to follow their cultures.
Btw, where is it in jinnah’s or iqbal’s speeches that Pakistan isn’t from this area? Their demand was for a majority area of muslims (“indian muslims” ?) to have self rule. Further research shows that iqbal, for example, envisioned more of an economic independence because he did say in one of poetry verses that mullah thinks that he is free because he can worship in india. It shows that religious freedom wasn’t really threatened in india but it was something else that was “missing” in having joint rule in undivided India.
Look at Iqbal’s allahabad address and towards the end, see what he said:
There is no massive arabisation on the ground in Pakistan. He is exaggerating whatever little adoption of arab culture there is. These douche's NFP and Express crowd, they paint weird picture of the ground realities to their audiences (who themselves live in a bubble and take these 'intellectuals' as their source on the underlying issues in Pakistan.I don't know anyone in my vicinity who emulates arab cultures and customs.......if any, it is the western culture or bollywood.
