My forays into the world of eye makeup.

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

Updated attempts as of today:

I need to go up more with the high lighting shade…don’t I?

I think it looks great, Reha! But I suggest you use a darker shade in the crease and a medium color to blend, to make it an easy transition. You could even blend it out using the highlight shade b/c from the pictures it looks like you just have one shade on the lid and nothing in the crease. Use a 217 brush if you have it to apply a darker color and then diffuse it using the 217 brush and blend above the crease towards the brow bone so it blends into nothing and then apply a highlighter. You have the perfect eyes + lashes to pull off anything!

And I continue to drool over TEH LASHEZ!

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

Thank you M

Today I tried to get into the crease a little and also take the color up more. This was a green eye.

This is the second green eye I did…just realize that. Tomorrow I am going to play around with the Sephora baked palette and see what I can come up with. Its got a a very vivid blue in there I love!

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

YAY! That's exactly what I was talking about, taking it into the crease made a HUGE difference and gave it an amazing "completed" look. Great job, Rehakinz. It looks AWESOME!

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

Very pretty!

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

Okay, so I forgot to do the blue because I was wearing burgundy today and had to match. I remembered when I came back here. :smack:

Here is today’s look:

I don’t see it when I open my eyes so that is a problem isn’t it? Also, on the bottom, should I be using the same color shadow? That’s what I’ve been doing so far and then smoking it with black shadow.

I like this (it was much more intense in real life…like the crease was actually a lot darker) but I still feel its not enough. Shouldn’t there be more to this? It doesn’t feel complete to me. :frowning:

Also, when you’re trying to actually deliver the color in the pot to your eyes…aside from wetting my brush…what else can I do?

I feel like in my MAC shadows, I have to dig and dig and dig. Is it the same with you guys?

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

Reha, the eye makeup looks great, I definitely see an improvement  One tip i’ll give you, something I recently discovered myself is how important neutral TRANSITION colors are. Sometimes, it’s very hard, especially if you’re new at eye makeup, to figure out how far up to take the eye shadow. It can look weird if it’s not taken high enough or if it’s gone TOO high. This is for looks like this one you posted http://www.paklinks.com/gs/attachment.php?attachmentid=10584&d=1324771643 I think you did a pretty good job at how far up you took the eyeshadow, but one thing you can do to make the it look even more seamless is to use a neutral matte eye shadow on the crease and blend it with lid color…this will help the the eye makeup look perfectly blended. This is a good example of what i’m talking about.

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

^Exactly, and using that matte color on a fluffy blending brush like the MAC #224 will make it easy-peasy. Also, I had the same problem and didn’t know how far to take it up. I found the best way to keep it looking seamless is to use smaller brushes to pack on color and using bigger brushes to blend it out. I remember when I would try adding color AND blending w/ the #224, it would look very dirty/smudgy/not neat at all!

One makeup artist who I LOVE + she has big eyes like us desis so her tips are very applicable. http://www.youtube.com/user/MakeupArtistLauren

If you watch her videos, you’ll pick up on her technique.

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

I did makeup on my sister today…these are her eyes.

I don’t have nice, archy-looking eyebrows…so its nice to make up someone who does…lol.

This was a midnight blue/silver/smoky look.

I don’t seee much smoke in this picture but it WAS there! I promise. I think the flash kinda washed it out.

What do you all think of this?

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

I LOVE those eyes and how beautiful of a canvas they give.

My question is…should I also use a neutral color when trying to do bold/bridal looks? Will that be okay there too?

I like Lauren’s eyes…very desi-like…lol.

I am thinking of buying the 217. Should I buy the 224 instead?

I highly recommend both but the 224 is more versatile. I use the 217 to "diffuse" the color/line and blend/transition with 224. I believe Marwah also loves the 224 for blending.

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

You can right above the crease, and blend it into the highlight color on the brow bone.

Re: My forays into the world of eye makeup.

Yup! exactly, those two are essentials.
