My first thread...

AFTER getting the new Einstein’ian Avatar :smokin:

Okay here goes,

My job location recently moved to about 30 km from home. Its not the distance that matters, its the freakin’ road that I have to battle twice a day during peak rush hours. It takes anything from an hour to an hour n half … one way.

So I suggested to my UNN  , lets move somewhere closer to where I go to work. She agreed initially :bb:

Today we surveyed a few areas, and she freaked out :hayaa:

The reason is that presently I am living in an area where the majority of people are from Pakistan, India and the Middle East. The atmosphere outside is pretty much like Karachi / Lahore / Islamabad. The Mall, desi shops, mosque, aunties wearing burqas, even the local burger king serves HALAL chicken :hehe:

Outside the building, aunties get together in the evening, kids playing in the garden. A very very lively atmosphere. It is this atmosphere and the friendships that begum has in this community, that are keeping her from leaving this area.

The areas that begum saw with me today, were kinda AWAY from the hustle and bustle of the life that we have gotten used to. So she said "We are NOT moving anywhere - if you have to spend 3 hrs on the road every day, its YOUR problem :grumpy: "

Tell me how easy is it for you guyz to move into a new place.
Assuming that it is within a tantalizing “manage’able” distance from your old place

I want to move

Re: My first thread...

I can tell you that you will freak out too if you move to a place which is not similar or even close to being similar to where you are living. Trust me! :)

Re: My first thread…

it’s actually quite cute…especially when the guys dont have a problem admiting to it. :cb:

my bro-in-law (sisters husband) always tells his kids …when they ask if they can do something to “go ask the boss”

Re: My first thread...

Re: My first thread...

Let's look at it with some more practical perspective...

Men can adapt such environment because for the most part of the day, they will be out to work... they come in the evening... children go to school and when they come back and finish up with school work and stuff, they will have hardly couple of hours for playing... In case of us desis, where women are mostly house-wives, they bear the most... I will rather think about them than myself... But then, that's my point of view :)

Re: My first thread...

My view point is that if men start listening to their wives then they will never get anywhere in life....unless they are useless to begin with:)

Think about it before you reply:)

Re: My first thread…

Ok. I guess, I’ll be able to give my valuable opinion after getting some question answered by you Unckeel G :snooty:

  1. Is the new area really boring?
  2. How about moving somewhere in the middle - lets say 15km away from the work.
  3. Is the school district good enough in the new area (i don’t know but my co-workers keep discussing school district issues).
  4. Are you that lazy that you can’t even drive 30km. In California, we drive like 40 miles each way everyday. And you are talking about km.
Lazy unkeelaan of peeplaan of GS.

:desimunda:

Re: My first thread...

I would love to move as long as it is a peaceful place no desi wesi

Re: My first thread...

After thinking what you said, I think it's imperative in life to listen to your better half than showing some selfishness... If one wants to become selfish in going forward in life, that is okay for the career goal... but here we are talking about 'moving close to work' not 'changing jobs for your career'... I will rather give that much of sacrifice in such situation... I don't mind changes either... in fact, for past 6 months I have been on projects as a consultant moving out from NY to NJ to Indiana and now in Pennsylvannia... and I love it with all the problems this baggage comes with... I was talking about something else.. which I am sure Uncle Stalker will know :)
