As long as the top leadership remains ‘clean’ and nonviolent, the situation won’t go out of hand.
The real test of Mustafa Kamal will begin when there will be clashes between MQM loyalists and his new party workers. All eyes will be on him to see how he resists the temptation to fight gun with the gun which has very much become an ingrained culture of Karachi politics, and the ultimate ‘winning method’ he was once part of.
Haqaqqi flopped because they turned out to be just as ruthless and violent as MQM, but if Mustafa Kamal stays nonviolent, he will become a real success and a hero. I hope he stays committed to politics of nonviolence. He’s the man of the moment for Karachi, a lot is expected from him, and it’ll be nice to see him succeed.
