I am a great fan of the early 80`s, mostly Amitabh stuff.

One recent film however, well not that recent, which i think is excellent is "Dil chahtha hai" with Aamir Khan, Saif Ali and Priety Zinta. I think it handled alot of issues really well and was just superb.

Where is Sholay? in both Amitabh's list and comedy movies. Its comedy sequence wiith jailor and soorma bhopali still top many comedy movies.

that movie is just so ever-green.

Saby yaar... there's a lot of "class" comedy in there in addition to the jailor's scene, soorma bhopali, basanti, gabbar - so many classic characters! and one can still watch it.

Mehnaz, all the movies you listed are "good", and you're perhaps more familiar with'em cuz they're mainstream commercial cinema flicks - how many of the ones I've posted in post #1 do you know? trust me... if you've seen those, the ones you've listed could hardly come to mind cuz of the formers' sheer brilliance.

i did not read the whole thread but amitabh’s DO AUR DO PANCH was good too and MR. NATWARLAAL. personally i think he was the best in LAWARIS :k:

Lamhay was definately a class apart. Only fault if you want to find in the movie is that it was made a bit earlier due to its mature topic and hence flopped.

I have heard that argument before, but I think even today if it was released, it would have been critically acclaimed like Swades/Black/3 Deewarein but would not have been a hit.
