Don't many Muslim countries have a law system which they interpret as an Islamic one? Saudi and Iran both Islamic countries but may not agree on the exact interpretation. You need scholars to interpret Islamic laws but which scholars do you use? You have to use the ones which the people support they need to vote for them hence a form of democracy.
Some people have certain romantic notions which may sound good in theory but are impractical to implement.

The desert fox wannabe has a unique perspective on these matters. I have never come across anybody on this forum or otherwise, neither someone who is secular nor an Islamic fundamentalist who even comes close to mirroring his viewpoint.

Not really, the people came out and changed their minds protesting against Morsi and for his removal. He refuses to resign do was rightfully removed by the military.
This seems to be a new "rule" in democracy. But, no...it was a coup. Plain and simple. And that by definition is an abortion of democracy. Rather than support the unsupportable, pointing this out would have been sufficient.

One can say the same about secular laws within Muslim lands. On both counts. That argument is a bit of a red herring. On thing is certain, whenever "our" secularists behave bad (i.e. those secularists in the Muslim world), the secularists and democracy advocates in the West tend to approve.

These people can never lose. Shariah is a solution to everything, and anywhere where it isnt practiced, such countries are a mess, and everywhere it is practiced and the country is still a mess, they aren’t practicing the real sharia.

Turkey - does for quite well for itself.
All the 'stans' in Central Asia, do you ever see them on the news bombing each other?
Gambia, Senegal etc etc.
Saudi has sharia law as does Iran and Afghanistan. They are all ****holes.
