This seems to be a new “rule” in democracy. But, no…it was a coup. Plain and simple. And that by definition is an abortion of democracy. Rather than support the unsupportable, pointing this out would have been sufficient.

One can say the same about secular laws within Muslim lands. On both counts. That argument is a bit of a red herring. On thing is certain, whenever “our” secularists behave bad (i.e. those secularists in the Muslim world), the secularists and democracy advocates in the West tend to approve.

Turkey - does for quite well for itself.
All the ‘stans’ in Central Asia, do you ever see them on the news bombing each other?
Gambia, Senegal etc etc.

Saudi has sharia law as does Iran and Afghanistan. They are all ****holes.
