Muslim activists from across Europe have met in London to defend the right of women to cover their heads.
Delegates from 14 countries have launched a campaign that will include lobbying the European Parliament.
The issue of wearing the hijab - as the traditional headscarf is called by Muslims - has sparked controversy across the continent.
Hijab bans have been imposed in France and Germany, and other countries are considering similar moves.
Addressing the conference, Islamic cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi urged the French government to reverse a ban on hijabs in state schools saying it evoked “a ghetto mentality”.
Similar messages of protest were made against bans in several German states and in Belgium.

muslim women who want to wear the hijab, and muslim women who don't, should move here to the US. Muslims in the US have more religious freedom here than anywhere else in the world. Just ask the muslim female guppies who live here
please, please tell me that you know the difference between an ethnicity and a religion? I need to rebuild my faith in our educational system in the midwest.
^ maybe you atually need to just pay attention to the real world. Pull out your geography text book and name a country that is more ethnically and religiously diverse than the US.

If things are so bad then why do these people still cling on to life in the west. Why dont you (if not u others) pack your bags and leave. It is their culture and their values. If they believe in walking around naked, fine what is your problem. We want them to change their culture to suit our needs. Isnt that Hypocrisy. How are the westerners (and the hindus )treated in the so called Islamic countries. They cant build their own churches or temples.

If a country claims to be freedom and human rights then how can it be two faced and say woman cannot cover.
How does say a non muslim have a right over a muslim in for example a european country they both live there, both pay tax, both don't break laws but when it comes to issue of dress code the muslim get punished!

As for hindus treated in islamic countries which countries are you refeering to?Becase far as i Know muslims the ones treated as 3rd class citizen in India!
As for westerners in muslim countries they usually work in highly paid jobs otherwise they dont come to muslim countries for no other reason except to occupy and bomb it i.e afghanistan and iraq.

Good way on how to dodge the argument. How are hindus treated in the gulf countries. True they go there to earn their livelihood. That does not mean that they can be treated like what they are being treated now.
