During the period when Islam was flourishing,
Some of the Sahabah’s were on a trade mission to (now a days Africa) Habsha,
As the day was coming to an end, they saw an Island in the distance. So they decided to
Land there for the night to rest and find some food.
As they were searching the Island, they came upon three old men sitting in a semi circle.
These men were not talking to each other, yet they seem to communicate with there mind.
The Sahabah decided to teach these men about Islam, so they spent the night discussing with these men the teachings of Prophet and God.
Next day the three old men were very happy and honored to have such guests. When the time came for them to leave the three old men brought them fruit and other thing from the Island for there trip.
They all bid farewell to each other and went on there way. When the next night came shahbah’s were resting in there cabin when the boat came to a violent halt, as they all ran to the deck to see what they hit. They saw the three old men standing on the water, (they had walked on water from There Island to the boat.) and one of them was holding the ship with one hand.
When they saw the sahabah’s looking down at them, one of them shouted,
We are sorry to disturb your trip, but we have forgotten what you taught us. Can you please teach us again?
Sahabah’s looked down in shock, and then one of them said to the three old men.
“If Allah has blessed you with the power to walk on water, then you should continue to pray to him the way you were.”
The reason I have mentioned the above story is because I am (already have) drifting away from religion, the facade over religion and its meaning is extremely disturbing.
I rather be open about my feelings then preach something that I am not.
deedawar...I am actually trying to keep close to her..but because we have not kept in touch alot before...its hard to keep an eye on her now. Still..as long as communication is open between us..maybe I can help her out. InshAllah.
Oh by the way...don't mean to offend you..but I didn't understand the meaning of that story..im not trying to be smart..i just didn't get it..and how it relates to you and your drifting away from us.
to my understanding, it means that i dont need a way of praying, or a way to follow cetain rules to be a better human being. an organized religion is not the way for me.
Well, as long as you have sincere thoughts and efforts. We have no control on anyone by virtue of being human. Still what we can do as human is to pray. Praying is the best any muslim can do for others.
Please remember, NO violence or hurtful feelings against people who are innocent. Islam has no room for it and I am certain that you and other muslim brothers know this.
There is no need to give an explanation for that story. It seems to be a fabricated hadith. A lot of people come with weak hadith, and fabricated hadith such as these. I advise you to ignore BLATANT LIES like this which CONTRADICT the Authentic sunnah.
Actually, he never said that he is telling some hadith, so no need to take it that way
As he said, It is a ‘story’ and should be treated like one
Razea, abkmujahid !
first thing , Not only that, there is no worldly punishment prescribed in Quran for apostate, but Quran allows apostate to revert back without any time restrictions. Killing an apostate who is living peacefuly is not allowed according to quran,
see the link bellow for detail.
Secondly, Islam advocates severest punishments for **‘traitor’ **(a person who works against the interests of Islamic state). these are two seperate issues, people have mixed up these two.
An traitor could be an apostate but Every apostate is not a traitor
I think you misunderstand the religion itself. You think that it was very easy for sahaba(R.A) to get themselves altered according to Islam. No one is ignorant of the hardships they took on to make their life and death and the life after death a successful one. It is hard to practise such a religion that is what makes a human being unique from angels and devil. But Allah would have never made us for only praying for him. Angels who dont have their own will are in so much quantity that human being were not even needed for praying. But the test of the people who still try praying & doing good deeds in connection with making Allah Happy while living in a sinful world & does it against their own nature which makes it more greater then angels. So it is very easy to find a shelter under a story that was never meant for you but to get out and work hard for your religion and i dont say it is going to be easy for anyone. But dont try to find a soft way to your(becuase there isnt any) destination that is to make the life after death a successful one.
I believe otherwise akhee, (because of the numerous ahadeeth that support otherwise and i can give you them if you need them). But as is, this is a fiqhi issue, and I may have said have said something wrong, which is the case for all humans.
You have also taken that hadith out of context. Also, you give your own tafsir for the ayaat in your link. This is something not form Islam. I hope you also research the ayaat and it’s tafsir as you advised people to do for hadith.
As I have tken the time to read the link, I hope you also take the time to read the links i posted
DEALS WITH DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO OPINIONS http://forums.almaghrib.org/showthread.php?t=1559&highlight=apostate
(note that i do not agree with the book madarina posted in this link, as proofs for opinion is weak compared to proofs for other opinion- and their are many errors in the book- if you don’t believe me, read it yourself)
This story concerns the sahabah, and it is considered a narration of the sahabah. There have been many works done on the narrations of the sahabah. Nonetheless, i believe it is a fabricated story.
And just for the sake of benefit of the doubt, would you please post your reference, so that it may be clearer to us shah.
guys
i am sorry, i dont mean to get into a fruitless discussion. i suggest we all study islam before making all these statements.
i have another question, and please do research it before answering.
when prophet passed away what was going on outside his house (what type of discussion)
Why ask? Does this particular event matter so much? We shouldbe worried about
teachings of the religeon, not a particular event which makes no difference to our lives. I do not know why do people come with these questions…
**
why are you afraid of leaving the religion and not leaving it. Dont even ask answers if you cant bear to listen to them. I think that you are in the need of a shortcut to MR very GOOD at everything. SO please dont make others life miserable. Even if give you 1000 proofs of the things that i will provide you, you will still be hanging around the same question. So people no need to answer his questions.
Lots of muslims are hearing and seeing Jesus it seems.
Here’s a nice story of a Pakistani crippled girl who was healed. I just read it briefly but the story is documented and true, I’m sure she’s not a lunatic or shizophrenic who hears voices in her head, and how can you explain that despite pleading with Allah all her life to heal her he kept silent? AT any rate she does not seem destined for a roasting in hell, much as some people here would wish otherwise. http://christ.bz/esther.html
The point is, what is in yur mind will either heal or hurt, and believing it’s OK to stone adulterers and fry betrayers can only damage the mind.
Picoico, i hate that bleeding-man-on-a-cross image myself, but the real reason Christ allowed himself ot be nailed was not to induce a guilt trip in us
This whole thread attempts to sow doubt in our minds abt Islam. I am very moderate #, but this in disrespectful and should be banned. So some idiot in Karachi was tricked by Satan...why should we care.
Alhamdulillah the rates of conversion to Islam are far greater then this idiot sheri gandoo and those like him. Plz close this thread.
