well u see muslims are loosing their power day by day, yes they were soldiers and they still have the potential to keep up their repute, but it won't happen if they keep on talking instead of doing something about it. Well even though we are loosing our what should i call it josh, but still muslims are fighting in the way of Allah all over the world and i guess we should help them to achieve their goal.

I agree with ZZ this a very racist couplet. Only racist people can enjoy it. Muslims should stop watching TV because Jews are leaders in entertainment industry in North America along with Indian movies and Indian music.

well the poetry of Mr. Iqbal didnot show racism in any way. When he wrote this poem at that time the Muslims were the one who were becoming the victoms of racism and just to tell them that once they had glory, the whole world was afraid of them he called the rest yahood because they were the ones who were victimizing muslims of racism in united India. But he was telling people like you to be more proud of their religion which bore world's first scientists and mathematician. If you don't know muslims had a compass like thing to show the direction of Ka'aba years before compass for the direction of north pole was made.
Try to look into history before writing something contradictory.

Iqbal died many years before Israel was formed (Israel formed in 47 or 48, i think) so what is his excuse for this remark. In fact anti-semitism was rampant when he lived. why not 'sharamye isaaee' when christians colonized entire world including india and pakistan and systematically looted them. What did Yahoods do to Indians?
BTW, try reading Freud in original in stead of mullah versions. He is major person who gave birth to modern psychology. Marx was driving force between modern economics. Socialism might not have lived long. But it provided viable alternative and changed the face of modern capitalism. Einstein was anyway man of the century. Where does any Muslim stand anywhere near these giants. Out of 3 top chess players today (Kasparov, Anand and Kramnik), two are Jews. Jews are bright, no doubt about that.

Jews dont even form 1/2 percent of world's population. Their intellectual achievements are higher than any other religion, muslims are anyway far behind as far as anything intellectual goes.
'sharamye yahood' as if yahoods are some low life people. what a hypocritical ego for being muslim which was nothing more than a bubble.
These Jews were constantly hounded and persecuted just for their religion by everyone else and still they made name for themselves in all fields.
In the years Iqbal lived. anti-jew propaganda was very common and almost all european countries were anti-semitic. maybe Iqbal, being a person of limited intelligence fell for the propaganda.
Jawaan, all theories need not beislamic. BTW, father of first nuclear bomb was not u qadeer khan. it was oppenheimer. Not to mention gell-mann, feynmann, bohr, bethe, landau, cohen-tanouji, levi-civita, erdos, noether and neumann just to mention physicists and mathematicians.

ZZ: I think you got it wrong. I am not a big fan of Iqbal’s, but his poetry, more often than not is abstract and insubstantial. He even challenges God in many of his poems. In this couplet, what he meant to infer was, as a matter of fact, that “Muslims have the potential and capacity to put Jews to shame when it comes to Vision and Determination. I don’t think there is any racist element in that. Looking from my perspective, it is praising Jews for such qualities.
Contrary to popular belief, his poetry is full of “anti-Islamic” stuff. If you are interested, I can bring some of his subtle stuff to your attention.
Since he and I share the same Alma Mater, I was obliged to come to his defense for fraternal reasons.
I have read bang-e-dira in translation. My father is a fan of Iqbal and thinks he had elements of being an epic writer like Kalidasa. I personally was never impressed even by his poetry, leave alone philosophy. Most of it is whining that despite breaking so many temples, god is not awarding enough to muslims. Even there he was not whiner number 1. Mullahs had already started whining and he followed suit saying that Muslims had a great past and the way to have great future is obvious, just go back to the great past ways where u ride horses and go for looting and raiding distant lands. Being a recent convert, (I think his father converted) his enthusiasm was more than older Muslims who had already realised futility of faith.
