I think all avenues are covered for terrorists to smuggle bombs on airplane on themselves.

First the 9/11 terrorists brought box cutters because such things were allowed.

Then they tried putting a bomb on their shoe and now everyone takes their shoes off.

Then they tried in their underwear and no we have full body scanners.

The only thing left would be put a bomb in their prosthetic limbs or sow a bomb in their chest like in The Dark Knight scene but that is very hard to do.

How much do they actually scan the laptop? I go stand in a line put my shoes and belt + metal/cell coins in the scanner.
My old dell one was very heavy i could sneak in some powder atleast in battery compartment or use the space for an
external card..who cares even flip out the drive easily and stuff it?
would this work? spare my ignorance if i missed something trivial..

Yes give up your modesty and bow down to the fear mongering elitist system.

Little by little you are willing to give up your privacy/dignity just because you THINK (influenced by the system) that it will help save lives.

For God’s sakes, how dumb can people get? The underwear bomber was ESCORTED did you know that? It was even on CNN if you want some mainstream source. FBI is all over it.

If planes are to blow up, they will, you or I can’t do crap about it. You can strip search every damn passenger and STILL your plane will be hijacked.

Sure bro, they will catch one or two and justify the use of these things, that’s how it happens. Oh btw, these guys that will be caught, I bet you they will be from the same chosen group the underwear bomber came from (hint: government sponsored terrorism).

I agree with cricketplaya. The media has played on everyone's fears and tried to make us feel "secure" through the use of body scanners

People should realise that the underwear bomber was under the FBI and MI5 radar for years! and they did nothing about it. Even with the 9/11 bombers, the FBI had for ages known that there was a threat of an attack in America. They STILL did nothing about it!

Instead of judging people who refuse body scanners and say rather lame things about being "protected" whilst travelling, you guys should be angrier at the institutions who have tried to protect you but have failed over and over again.

^^These institutions are doing their bit by preventing the so-called bombers to board the planes.

Also I was just wondering if we should start a movement for having security checks in airports. That is also taking away my civil liberty.

I'm more comfortable with the body scanner than I am with having a dude physically touch me all over in a pat-down search.

do you still have to take your shoes off (and your belt..watch..phone..) with the body scanner? i would prefer to just walk through the scanner.

either way whatever is needed to ensure everybody's safety. it might not be 100% fool proof but something is better than nothing. i know that the anti theft device in my car might not prevent it from getting stolen but having it reduces the chances of theft.

also, TSA and FBI are two different agencies. i believe, the initiative to install the body scanners is from TSA to cover their backs.

I have no hate for religious organizations but they have to make sense. and just the modesty argument falls flat on its face within 3 questions. Using the same argument pat downs should not be allowed either, why are they not arguing about that, and that goes on everywhere.

similarly, modesty about not taking your clothes off in front of anyone can get questioned about medical situations. Point is that someone can ask this and what is the response? that the person looking at it is a professional, same gender. so the response is sure, the person looking at the image are also professionals and of the same gender, then what? then we say no no but this is medically necessary for the individual's wellbeing..and the response is yes and this is necessary for the wellbeing of this and other individuals on the flight.

so forget me, but when it comes to public relations and making logical arguments they have not made a good enough argument that people can not poke holes in.

Now in business world, we say I would rather have my team poke holes in my plan or presentation before I go to company at large, and then have company poke holes in it before i go to market.

groups like fiqh council need to be more strategic, think more and have more of a chess mentality than a knee jerk slam dunk approach. Its the same lack or deficiency of vision that makes majority of these ppl seem like bumbling idiots when they are asked questions because they have a one trick pony approach to arguments and one that pony falls they are standing with nothing.

I dont hate them, what I dont like about some of our religious organizations though is their inability to evolved with the same ppl clinging by hook or crook to their positions, even when they have been shown in a light which negatively impacts the organization. I am not against religious organizations, I am against their power games, poor operations, lack of attention to detail that gets you in trouble.

safety is important but the few western countries are behaving like nuts.

one is eager to frisk the under garment of the passengers at the airport to ensure ignoring the fact the coulumbian smuggler are using submarine to smuggle narcotics and weapons to the USA.

as far as the scanner is concerned i cant comment as i have on idea of the output of the scanner.

11 bills lying in the US senate and no one is taking interest to move those bills , the bill were aimed to increase the disclosure requirements in the financial statement for Multi Billion Dollar Hedge Funds to counter the Dubious invest practices of those funds that are considered to be the prime cause of the financial crises in the world.

Religion does not matter when a terrorist blows up a plane....

I much rather be safe than sorry....if that means a few people are inconvenienced then so be it...

I dont want another 9/11 type attack happening....
