Abu Dhabi rescue team heads to quake-hit Pakistan
A team of officers from Abu Dhabi police reportedly left for Pakistan to help in search and rescue operations following the devastating earthquake there. The 26-strong police rescue team will help search for survivors and treat the wounded from the earthquake, “in the first overseas mission on such a (large) scale,” the official WAM news agency reported. Oil-rich Abu Dhabi is the largest and wealthiest member of the seven-strong United Arab Emirates (UAE). UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan also ordered the immediate dispatch of humanitarian aid to quake-hit areas of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan, WAM reported. An earthquake measuring at least 7.6 on the Richter scale caused massive devastation on Saturday across a swathe of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. The UAE Red Crescent Authority will shortly send teams to Pakistan and India to extend relief aid to quake victims, board chairman Khalifa Nasser al-Suwaidi was quoted by WAM as saying. The authority’s office in Afghanistan has also been instructed to send delegates to areas affected by the quake and provide food, medical and other vital assistance to the victims, he said.

Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan Ali Awadh Al-Aseri said that the widespread sufferings caused by the earthquake that jolted Pakistan on Saturday had shocked every one in Saudi Arabia. “I have received innumerable messages from across the Kingdom expressing deep concern and sympathy on this natural disaster. On behalf of the leadership, the government and the people of Saudi Arabia, I would like to convey our heartfelt condolences to those who lost their dear ones,” he said. In a message, the Ambassador said, I would also like to convey our sympathy at the extensive damage caused to property throughout the Pakistan as well as in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Our hearts go out to each one who has suffered as a consequence of this mammoth tragedy.
The Saudi relief agencies operating in Pakistan have already been instructed to immediately take the necessary steps in providing aid and medicines to the victims of the earthquake, he said. The Governor of Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, Prince Fahad bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz has announced a donation of one million Saudi Rivals for the victims of the earthquake. On behalf of the leadership, the government and the people of Saudi Arabia, the Ambassador said, I would like to assure the government, the leadership and the people of Pakistan that we will stand with them in their hour of trial and do every thing possible to mitigate their sufferings. “Their suffering is the suffering of the people of Saudi Arabia and it is our responsibility to step forth and provide all assistance that is humanly possible.” It was announced that as an expression of brotherhood with the people of Pakistan, the Iftar dinner to be hosted by the Saudi Ambassador on Monday, October 10 had been cancelled and the amount earmarked for the dinner will be allocated for the victims of the earthquake.

Turkish Red Crescent Sends Aid To Pakistan
Turkish Red Crescent will send a team of seven experts, medicines, food and hygienic materials, said sources on Saturday. In a written press release, the Red Crescent said that the aid is being sent to Pakistan after an earthquake of 7.6 magnitude hit this country early in the morning. The seven disaster experts and aid materials will go to Pakistan in an airplane provided by the Turkish prime ministry.

Asefi expresses sorrow over killer quake in east Asia
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi has voiced deep sorrow over Saturday’s killer quake in the three east Asian countries of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. “The natural and painful quake disaster, which has left many people killed or injured in Pakistan and India, has made Iranian people and government deeply unhappy and depressed; and we extend our condolence to the people and governments of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan, on the occasion” said Asefi in a message on Saturday. Asefi also shared sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims, wishing patience for them, recovery for the injured and divinely forgiveness for the dead. Based on certain reports, the lethal quake has killed more than 1,000 people in Pakistan, and 250 others in Muzaffarabad in Indian controlled Kashmir.

Iran’s Red Crescent dispatches food aids to flood stricken Pakistanis
Iran’s Red Crescent sent a food shipment to the victims of a flood in Pakistan. A flash flood caused many problems for residents of" Sovat" and “Dihat” areas of Pishavar city last month and many countries, including Iran, have sent foodstuff to the victims. Head of Red Crescent office of Sarhad province, Pakistan, Shir-Mohammad Khan told IRNA on Friday, that Iran’s new foodstuff shipment included, rice, flour, bean, sugar, cooking oil, tea and fish. He appreciated Iran’s food aids and estimated the value of the shipment over 8 million rupees.

Gulf states dispatch aid to quake-hit Pakistan
The energy-rich Gulf states of Saudi Arabia and Qatar announced overnight Sunday they were sending emergency humanitarian aid to Pakistan following the devastating earthquake that struck South Asia. UAE President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan also ordered the immediate dispatch of humanitarian aid to quake-hit areas of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. Saudi King Abdullah ordered the “rapid” establishment of an airlift of doctors, medicines, tents, covers and food to Pakistan, said the state news agency SPA.
A spokesman at the Qatari foreign ministry said Doha has also decided to contribute with an urgent humanitarian assistance to the victims of the earthquake in Pakistan, the official news agency QNA said. Late Saturday, a 26-strong police rescue team from Abu Dhabi police left for Pakistan to help search for survivors and treat the wounded from the earthquake. Gulf states host millions of Asians, mainly Pakistanis and Indians, who constitute the bulk of laborers in the monarchies witnessing a construction boom. A huge earthquake measuring at least 7.6 on the Richter scale shook South Asia on Saturday, leaving at least 18,000 dead.

Simultaneously, Azerbaijan announced on readiness to send a medicine group and rescue party to Pakistan. The Health Ministry and Civil Defense Department of the Defense Ministry of Republic have been given certain instructions. In case of acceptance of the appropriate agreement by the Pakistani Government, the medicine group and rescue party will be dispatched to the zone of quakes by special flight.

**Bahrain offers aid to victims of souteast Asian quake **
The cabinet here decided on Sunday to offer immediate humanitarian aid to victims of southeast Asian earthquakes in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India. The aid will reach its intended receipients via the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, said Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Bin Attiyatuallah Al Khalifa, at a press conference following a regular cabinet meeting today.

Afghanistan Sends Medical Aid to Pakistan
Afghanistan has announced it will send helicopters, medical teams and two tons of medical goods to neighboring Pakistan, where above 19,000 were killed in the devastating earthquake Saturday, AFP reported. Four helicopters and two medical teams will leave for Islamabad on Monday. AFP points out that the earthquake hit slightly the eastern parts of Afghanistan, which is one of the poorest countries in the world. The quake caused material damaged and killed three children.

**Indonesian President Conveys Condolences over Earthquake in Pakistan **
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has conveyed condolences to Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf over the vast devastation and loss of more than 18,000 lives caused by an earthquake near the Pakistan-India border on Saturday Marty Natalegawa, spokesman for the ministry of foreign affairs made the remarks when contacted by ANTARA here on Sunday. “The Presidnet has directly conveyed condolences to Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf,” he added. To show solidarity to the Pakistani people, Marty also said that the Indonesian government had decided to send a Hercules C-130 to airlift a medical team, medicines and other emergency assistance to the country. Apart from these, Indonesia will establish a field hospital to provide medical treatment for the quake victims.
Whether there were Indonesians among the dead or wounded in the strong quake measured at 7.6 on the Richter scale, Marty said that there were no immediate reports on this matter. He, however, said that the Indonesian embassy in Islamabad, the Pakistani capital city, was still trying to find out whether Indonesians were among the victims.
Gul: Turkey Will Be The First Country To Help Pakistan
Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul has indicated on Saturday that Turkey has experienced enormous pain due to natural disasters and that Turkey will therefore be the first country to help Pakistan, where an earthquake of 7.6 magnitude took place earlier this morning. I sincerely hope that there is not too many deaths as a result of the big earthquake, said Gul. ‘‘When you look at the magnitude of the earthquake, it could have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people. Turkey has began preparations to send aid to Pakistan. There are Turkish NGOs who are ready to provide assistance to earthquake stricken regions of Pakistan. There may be casualties in India as well. I wish the Pakistanis and Indians fast recovery from the devastating earthquake,’’ said Gul.

**Malaysia to send rescue team to Pakistan **
The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) will send a team to Pakistan to assist earthquake victims, local media reported on Sunday. MRCS Chairman Nordin Abdul Razak said the 12-member team, consisting of four doctors and eight relief workers, is expected to leave for Pakistan late Sunday. MRCS sources said the Malaysian team will be joined by the Red Crescent teams of Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia in Pakistan. The MRCS also urged Malaysians to donate to help the victims. At least 18,000 people have been killed so far by the 7.6-magnitude earthquake which centered in Pakistani-controlled Kashmir on Saturday.

Pakistan does not have the capacity to deal with an earthquake disaster it is clear. Pre planning could have been done in case of such a natural disaster this is similar to Turkey where earthquakes happen and the government is stuck and cannot do anything for the people.

Do you think even a developed country like the US had the fullest capacity to deal with the floods there? What do you mean the Government is stuck with and cant deal with it, they are doing so much out there, along with the people, you on the other hand can just RANT. How many similar earthquakes took place in Pakistan before?
You abhor the idea of Pakistan so we dont even consider you a Pakistani so go play khalifah dolls somewhere else!
