FOX just termed what’s happening in Paris as ‘Muslim riots’…
Question arises: How can riots be religious?
I can understand Muslim fundamentalist, Muslim fanatic, Muslim terrorist, Muslim extremist…But a riot?
Is it something like ‘looting’ and ‘looking for provisions’ kind of deal? Like if a Muslim resists invaders in Iraq, they are the ‘insurgency’, but if they happen to be French, like in WWII, they were the ‘resistance’…
Like I remember reading someplace (probably Indonesia’ where some Christian group had taken machetes to a village and massacred many people, it was termed as ‘civil unrest’ while in the same region Muslims had staged a rally which turned nasty and it was dubbed as ‘terrorist activities’…
I wouldn’t call this subliminal propaganda…In fact I wouldn’t even call it propaganda at all…I would simply call it inciting hatred…
It may be politically incorrect, but it is factually correct.
The people rioting are also poor. Rich people do not riot.
Most of the people rioting are unemployed. Well employed people seldom riot.
The rioters are also young, we elderly seldom have the energy to riot.
In this case young poor unemployed Muslims are rioting. I am sure Fox also mentioned poverty, youth and unemployment. Does that mean that Fox is also guilty of class, employment, and age discrimination?
Ohioguy has nailed it. Young muslim boys have way too much testosterone pumping thru their blood and too little interest in their homework. So they rabble rouse. Seen it done again and again and again. I believe our desi boys need to be chained in their homes and to their desks and kept away from the computer...forced to study math problems and anthropology. All of ya'll need a good class in anthropology. Be aware of other cultures.
Well, perhaps we should listen to what other media sources are saying as well:
“In Le Blanc Mesnil, a Paris district, last week Hassan, a 15-year-old schoolboy, claimed his cité was involved in an “intifada” against French authorities — a reference to the Palestinian uprising against Israel in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. “The violence won’t stop until Sarkozy resigns,” he said.” http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,2089-1859546_2,00.html
Calling this 'intifada' as a Muslim Riot is like saying that Katrina's victims were 'Black Looters'...
We know not all were blacks and we know not all were looting...However, the media portrayal of such events reflects heavily upon the poilitical and religious leanings of the media which in this case happens to be the western media...
Similarly, in this thing not all are Muslims and not all are blacks...But the innuendo and presentation of facts to burden the sentiments of a people to think otherwise is very clear...That Muslims are the root of these riots...
When the LA riots happened, we know that all the participants of those riots were blacks...However, did anyone hear them say that these were 'Black riots'? Obviously not...The political and proper reason for it being that naming it thus would have incited hatred against the blacks...
And in unlike the Rodney King case in which a person was beaten severely but not killed, in this circumstance however two very young youths were electrocuted...What could have prompted these unfortunate victims to fling themselves upon a highly electrified fence, is something we would probably never know...
But the attention of my post was to simply bring to light how underhandedly, the media wishes to portray Muslims anywhere...
Just like a Pakistani or Arab or Turkish terrorist become 'Muslim terrorists' similarly the Paris riots become 'Muslim riots'...More pepper and salt against Muslims and Islam...
You sound as if the fact that the rioters are Muslim should be swept under the rug because it is personally embarassing.
I have heard no one imply that these kids are rioting because of their religion, or because of any religious controversy. The explainations universally have been issues of jobs, discrimination and lack of integration. In Northern Ireland, rioters demonstrators and protestors were almost always defined by their religion. Was this a black mark for Christianity?
You may want to drop the over-sensitivity, and realize that 10 days of rioting is the real problem, not some pecieved slight on your religion. I doubt the people who have had thier homes cars and businesses burned really care much about Foxs’ coverage.
And, some Mullah should have explained to these kids how this will look to the world. I doubt the kids care, they are probably enjoying the mayhem. The dynamics of riots are pretty well known, and it seldom involves religion, and really never involved the incident which sparks the outburt. Pent up anger, resentment, poverty and unemployment are almost always the proximate causes.
And, it does not help things when the rioters are screaming, “Jihad”.
“It’s Baghdad here,” the rioters shouted. Night after night last week, rage spread through the ghettos that ring Paris, then beyond to every corner of France. When a tear-gas canister exploded near a mosque in Clichy-sous-Bois on the fourth violent evening, a new cry went up.** “Now this is war,” said one of the vandals. Others cried “jihad.”** http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9938333/site/newsweek/
On the other hand, Aljazeera has chosen to completely ignore the fact that the rioters are overwhelmingly Muslim. They go so far as to not even mention the word Muslim in thier reporting. Presumably we can all ignore that particular 600lb elephant in the room. Now, you would think that there would be some important questions to be asked here. Will these riots effect European policies on immigration from predominantly Muslim countries? Will there be an anti-Muslim backlash in these countries? Jewish synagogues were burned in France, but no mention in Al Jazeera. If a Mosque had been burned don’t you think it would be monsterous headlines? Having these discussions is sort of difficult when you choose to ignore important facts. http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/9B4293F6-7B55-485E-928E-6E108C21C362.htm
News agencies are reporting that French government officials have held a series of meetings with Muslim religious leaders to try to calm the violence. Does it show hatred toward Muslims to report this?
