I am not going to go into discussion of whether Ahmadis are muslim or not, its been debated on forum plenty of times. However, in this age when Islam is being accused of being a violent religion, every muslim must make an effort to clear the image of islam, and not just by words, but through actions. Regardless of whether the person defending Islam is a sunni, shia or ahmadi, we should support such a person in that regard instead of pointing out how he/she is or isnt muslim.
Havent we already suffered enough by shunning brilliant minds like Dr Abdus Salam and Sir Zafarullah Khan just on the basis that they were Ahmadis.
I loved the fact that this marine referred to a Hadith that Love for one’s homeland is part of faith. This is the type of stuff that muslims scholars and leaders should be teaching the youth, who are so prone to being radicalized.

in fact, there is a black model who does that. To me, that is mockery of religion.

To me, its also a mockery of religion when people buy homes/cars on interest while other Muslims are suffering. To me, its a mockery when people so easily buy themselves luxuries they don’t need when that money can be used to feed, clothe and nurture a much more deserving soul. But the mockery only seems to happen when it comes to issues that don’t apply to us. Just because you don’t do it, its all of a sudden haram.

I used to work with a black guy who was trying to convert to Islam. He was educated, soft spoken, clean cut and didn’t look like he was a hoodlum. He said he had visited the local mosque multiple times but people thought he was dangerous and trying to beg so they avoided him. He said he was fascinated by Islam but its people seemed so unwelcoming…and asked me why that was. I told him because they don’t follow Islam. They follow themselves. Everyone is a mullah these days. Wearing a thobe or hijab does not make one a Muslim. Loads of religions ask women to cover up. That’s not what sets us apart.

And I think a glamour model who prays 5 times a day and gives to the poor is a much better Muslim than someone who does neither things but wears hijab. Because that model was able to see beyond herself whereas the other is still thinking that wearing a piece of cloth is all she needs to do.

Disclaimer: no offense to hijabis…I think its great you cover up…these are simply examples.
