Muslim athiests?

Do they exist?

I know some christian athiests, meaning that these peopel do not beleive in God or religion but think that christian teachings are a good way of living.

Re: Muslim athiests?

No, the question is wrong in itself Brother

It's an oxymoron. I don't consider myself Muslim, but I don't call myself a Muslim agnostic.

Re: Muslim athiests?

theoretically speaking yes it is an oxymoron.

but practically speaking Yes, Muslim atheists do exist.

Re: Muslim athiests?

better question..

Do people of muslim origins ever become atheists?

Without going into details, I would say that atheists do exist, but Muslim atheist is totally an incongruent, rather funny, concept.

Re: Muslim athiests?

^In strict sense of the word its true that its oxymoron but then theer are many "misnomers".

I extrapolated it from the term "christian athiests" that i explained in my first post.

Re: Muslim athiests?

There are jewish athiests as well.

dont make me prove you wrong :biggthumb

Re: Muslim athiests?

Muslim atheist would be an atheist, otherwise part of muslim family ... they do exist .. these are the people whom you would see participating in Islamic activies as cultural events , without any belief ..

I know few Pakistanis who are athiest for all practical pupose .. but they do celebrate eid , or will come to your home for Iftar party ..

they will have Nikah done, properly ...

They will even name their kids Muslim names

please do, and by putting things in right prespective.

Interesting google ad from this thread: "Former Muslim speaks out".

Re: Muslim athiests?

Do ya stay muslim if ya become Athiest ?

P.s: and i dont believe on Baron d Holbach who said All children are born Atheists; they have no idea of God.

Tlk Bhai, you are confusing two thins, Munafiq and Atheist. Nifaq (Taqseem) within a religion does exist, has existed, and will exist because It does not deny the root of the religion. One can be Munafiq and still considered Muslim, but one can't be an atheist and a Muslim at the same time. One can not stay alive if head is chopped.

A cadaver is a cadaver, even if you put him in a cold storage, and hope that it will rise one day in this mortal world and before the day of judgement.

"peram-para"

dialouge: "Mera baap Musalman tha, may bhi Musalman hoon, to mera baita bhi musalman ho ga"

....as if "Religion" is some kinda property!

kher my point is parents-society pressurizes us to become what they think is good for us, rather than leave it on us to find the Deity.

Thats true Intelli .agar woh log muslims rawayaat ko follow bhi ker rahey that doesn't mean they are following religion they are just following culture which they heard from their forefathers. But they are not muslims at the same time. They are non-muslims and mushriq.

Atheist is not always a Murtid .. Athiest is the non-beliver who never develped that belief ..

Any atheist , at one given time .. could have parents who were a beliver of one faith or the other ..

if that faith (of those parents) was islam .. that means the athiest was raised in that family .. so one can call him Muslim athiest .. that would be just a label .. not a technical term . cause once you are athiest, you are not a muslim, anymore

athiest dont belive in one god, let alone two or more .. how can they be Mushrik?

I don't think so just by following cultural things we can call him "muslim" he is non-muslim. How can we call him "muslim",its a big title for him even though some one is not believing in ALLAH.And think ke agar hamein is baat ka gunah mil gaya to ke ham ne us ko muslim kaha jab ke woh hai nahi.

Re: Muslim athiests?

I think what Icono means by "Muslim athiest" is a person who comes from a muslim family...practices the beliefs (ie fasts, prays, doesnt drink alcohol, etc) but doesnt actually believe in it. He is just kind of going with the flow of things...am i correct Icono?

if that is case....then yes they do exist.
