Muslim anymore?

Asslam-0-Alaikum,

I don’t know whether it is okay to write it here or what but the thing is i have been so confused about it that i have no idea as to what i should think or do…

I am a muslim and i am someone who prayed 5 times a day and tried my best to me good at religion but obviously i was not perfect.. i had alot of bad habits too.. anyway…
When i was 18 year old i used to read many documents and articles on athesim and the facts pertaining to afterlife.. there was a phase where i actually thought and doubted if there is god and if there is After life.. which i am ashamed of but since then i feel now that i do pray it’s of no use as i heard some people say it comes under shirk which is a major sin that cannot be forgiven and that PERSON NO LONGER REMAINS A MUSLIM

i’d appreciate someone with this knowledge to help me out!

Re: Muslim anymore?

:wsalam: & Peace kb syed,

You mean you stop praying before and now when you are back and would like to pray than it is no use because its comes under shirk?

Re: Muslim anymore?

No, i mean i still pray but i feel it in vain because i doubted it once and i heard someone say it is a major shirk and i am no longer a muslim anymore..i don't know if he ws joking or what but it has got me wondering whether any of my action has any relevance in the eyes of God since i did doubt Him once,

Re: Muslim anymore?

Allah is ghafoor & raheem.
:)
He forgives.

Re: Muslim anymore?

It's never late for repentance. Allah says, if you take a step towards me, I will take 10 steps towards you. This life is a test and Alhamdulilah you are still alive and well. I say you do a toba from Sidq-e-dil and become a good muslim.

Cheers

Re: Muslim anymore?

Peace kb syed,

There is an incident mentioned in ‘Fazail-e-A’amal’ that:

A Sahabi was on his way to Prophet Muhammad :saw2: where he meet another Sahabi who asked him where is he going? He said “I became hypocrite (Munafiq)”. The second Sahabi asked him how?. He told that when I was in the gathering (majlis) and discussion of Almighty Allah, heaven, hell, Zikar were going on, my heart was so soft and melted due to fear of Almighty Allah but when I left, I forget everything and i’m like there is no fear of Him.

Second Sahabi also told same thing. Both went to Prophet Muhammad :saw2: and told what exactly they gone through. Prophet :saw2: said beside duties of Almighty Allah you have some duties of worldly affairs too like take care of your family members, neighbours, friends etc., etc., This condition (where you think you became Munafiq) is because you can perform your duties beside Almighty Allah’s duty otherwise you’ll only fear for your life and forget all other things related to you.

Although I don’t remember the exact incident but purpose of shairing it that when a person get invovles in worldly affairs than his desires, wishes are increased only for worldly things and for its pleasure. And that desires becomes his needs, maybe if one of that desire if granted to you by Almighty Allah than you may astray right path.

You may see around yourself, in which gathering you sit? What you discuss with your friends? I mean religious talk or others. You’ll find the answer. Moreover is possible try to give sadqa for yourself and pray Namaaz of Nafl-e-Hajat with dua that “if my desire (wish) is best for me that O Almighty Allah! please grant me otherwise choose what is best for me”

Lastly, by thinking this way no one enter in the circule of ‘Shirk’.

May Almighty Allah solve your all problems. Ameen.[TABLE]

Re: Muslim anymore?

'thinking' is an unstobable process....and if this process is guided aright then it is a blessing and definitely not something to be afraid of........ of course it can be used to serve or hurt.......Edison used it to produce bulb that has served humankind enormously, whereas Oppenheimer used it to introduce atom bomb and destruction for the mankind.............in your case it depends on wht u have been intellectualizing about and what conclusions u have reached.........one religious example of a productive thinking process was Ibrahim AS who used counter arguments about the worshipping of the Sun and the moon to show people that how a wrong premise would result in self-contradictory result and thus Ibrahim AS seperated the truth from falsehood...in fact he annihilated the later..........Allah liked it so much that it is preserved in the Quran......another point for you to think abt my bro.......all the best...

Re: Muslim anymore?

Life is not supposed to be a piece of cake or a bed of roses. If sticking to the "straight" path was as easy, why would be have any judgement day? To err is human. Allah forgives and we must seek his forgiveness.

Please don't listen to people who pass fatwahs in their living rooms and call you a disbeliever or whatever. It is only up to Allah to decide.

Re: Muslim anymore?

Peace kb syed

Prayer is only in vain, if your intention is not prayer. Doing a major shirk and not recognising it in this life, will result in it having to be paid for in whatever manner will do it justice in the hereafter, unless if in this life you realised that repented, and never did it again ... We ask in du'a that Allah makes us die on Iman and in Islam for a reason ... It is because we trust that the most important thing is for us to be in these states upon death ... What you did before should be forgiven, inshaAllah ... Most Sahabis were mushrik before they came to Islam now ... How can they be the best of the followers if your concerns are true? No, coming back to Islam is a way to clean the slate as long as the intention of leaving and coming back are sincere. And Allah is the Best of Judges, Most Merciful.

Re: Muslim anymore?

Your brain is a fantastic thing, do not be afraid to use it. If you think something does not make sense, then you dont have to continue following it just because you have been told in your childhood that you must must must do that thing.

It is very hard for religious people to get over religion if they start doubting it. The logic tells them they should not follow it, but family pressure, society pressure and brainwashing since childhood makes it hard to get over the line. Never be afraid of using your brain and your brain alone, instead of being threatened by people or by stories.

Re: Muslim anymore?

you need someone else to tell you whether you're muslim or not?

Re: Muslim anymore?

Peace sharaabee

You are also telling him/her what to think ... So by your own advice (s)he should not listen to you either.

Re: Muslim anymore?

No, whether his/ her efforts for reconciliation are in vain or not ...

Re: Muslim anymore?

I am telling him/her to use his brain, I said that twice. And then I added my opinion on the issue of religious people who dont want to be religious anymore.

You just want to fluff!!

Re: Muslim anymore?

There is no difference between you and that person who told kb syed that he comes under shirk and that he is no longer remain a muslim.

My Sincere advice to kb syed 'Avoid such peoples'.

Re: Muslim anymore?

By your own admission you have started to pray again. This alone indicates your belief in the Almighty.
What you went through before, waswas, is something we all go through all the time. Alhamdullilah that you managed to stay on the path. :)

Re: Muslim anymore?

@Sharabee:

I have told you once inderectly that no one cares for your thoughts on Religion. I used my brain first and then I chose to walk on the path of Islam. I sometimes can't believe how you people can swing the hammer so easily against Religion.

Religion means live and let live. From the Torah and the Bible "Don't Kill" to the Holy Qur'an "when you have killed one, it is as if you have killed the whole Humanity" God says live and flourish. My logic tells me to follow Religion. Do you dare to think that I'm stupid now?

I can speak for myself, but when you bow down (sajdah) and stay in this position for a couple of minutes and communicate to your God, your heart gives you a proof of 100 % that God exists.

@kb syed:

God is Great. He forgives alot. Recite Sura Al-Fatiha and reflect about the meaning. What a beautiful opening of a beautiful Book. Recite the Holy Qur'an daily. It will
cleanse your mind. Allah will guide you.

Re: Muslim anymore?

Peace sharaabee

It's a pity you have not used your brain properly ... It can come down to this:

I use my brain to conclude that Religion is Good and Deity is Real, you have used your brain to conclude the opposite ... however, in addition you are laying claim that I have not used my brain but merely accepted what others are telling me (and accepting is not using my brain) ... furthermore you are suggesting all people who believe in Deity are doing this "brainless" thing ... this you have no evidence for accusingly - further you deny other forms of evidence that we use to arrive at a conclusion - It is physically not possible for us to make a "decision" about faith without using our brains ... And there is absolutely no fluff in what I have said ... Rather you are being fluffy.

You are "telling" the person what to do - essentially it boils down to that ... I am not one who "tells" others what to do ... Simply I inform them how I arrived at my conclusions and do not instruct them to follow me or not follow me ... this I leave in their lap ... I do not have to use any method to convince the other party of their conviction or lack thereof because I do not believe anything I say will bring them to faith or not ... rather I believe it is Deity who Guides a person - or who leaves to go astray.

I likewise congratulate people who decide to have faith and welcome them ... those who decide not to have faith well that is their choice that I respect. But whenever someone says that religious people are "conning" others to believe then I contest that - because on that basis irreligious people are "conning" them about us conning them ... I welcome full logical argumentation that you (as an individual) seem to be dismissing as fluff - it is an easy escape for you because you seem to want to hide from the truth of real argumentation - I like using all the faculties of reason.

Re: Muslim anymore?

Thank you everyone for the reply...I know how Merciful Allah is.. I have been thinking about it for a long time but the only thing that keeps banging in my head is the fact that because of what i thought in those dark times of my life could bring me under the pretext of people committing "shirk" which actually excludes you from the muslim ummah and you are suppose to re enter it... i m getting clear on this point slowly now.. since i belongt o a religiously motivated family, i could not really freely talk to my father about it so thought about asking you all informed people..

Thank you for the input!

Re: Muslim anymore?

What a bunch of BS. Where do your judgement day threats fit in the picture?

Talk about baat ka batangar.. exaggerating the meaning of TELLING like nobodys business.

Save the trouble of responding with quranic verses or fluffy senseless "logic"
