How come we don’t teach music in schools back home?
I so wish i knew how to play the guitar and piano.
My sister here is in a band and she plays instruments so well mashallah.
How come our society still labels it per my abu ji “mandwa”

Re: Music in Schools
I really disliked music class. They should be optional, not mandatory.
Re: Music in Schools
it's the same w/ sports. There is not much attention given to extra curricular activities in most schools in Pak.
Re: Music in Schools

and sports i love SPORT cricket ,football, basketball , handball, badminton, hokey, judo
im crazy over these and i don't know what i would do if we coudnt practise them in school i fell so sorry for people in pak
Re: Music in Schools
Music class in school is a necessity. It should be taught back home as well. I think it's because of the religious aspect and the way society feels about musicians, that they don't teach it.
Re: Music in Schools
I had to take music classes in school back home but I hated it. My instructor tried his best to teach me piano and more but I never passed by twinke twinkle little star and dill dill Pakistan. I think it became popular after our session and later on students showed interest as well but it went down as the time passed by and now I haven't heard anything about music classes in past three-four years. Mind you, I am still in touch with the principal so taht's how I know about it!
Re: Music in Schools
Let Qazi Hussein Ahmed come to power once in Pakistan.. he will put an end to everything - music teaching in the schools, pop/rock stuff and qawwalis.. Mughal Emperor and my ideal, Aurangzeb wanted no music in Delhi... during his time, singing on streets, plays etc. were strictly banned and punishable
Re: Music in Schools
In some schools back home, they teach you music but its optional. Same with sports. I wish I had played something in school.
Now am in my office softball team. In the beginning, i sucked. Now am getting better. If I could play Cricket back home, it could be easier for me to be a good fielder etc.
Re: Music in Schools
