That’s funny. Indian media is more interested in Pakistani Affairs than their own affairs…
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
i heard his book sold in record amounts in india?!?
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
Indian obsession?!?
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
no such thing. As matter of fact, nobody recognizes manmohan. he is recognized only for his brain. Right now, no leader is very famous in india.
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
Besides, this seems to be in wikipedia.
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM

Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
haa bhai........kitnaaaaaa bada "wound" jo hai ;)
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
he is also probably more popular in india than he is in pakistan given the bashing that he gets from his own people everywhere
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
Haan bhai, I am sure its a very 'wadaa wound' since we see all these Indian posters relentlessly whining about Musharraf. I mean you yourself make him popular, flood amazon.com and review his book even before reading it, and then you blame the ISI for rigging this international Indian popularity contest between Uncle Mush and McMahon Singh (PM of India, in case you dont know who he is).
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
being popular is one thing ... taking the country in the right direction and keeping promises is another. I'm sure most bollywood b actors are more popular than Musharaf - doesn't mean much does it
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
I always enjoy TV interviews of Musharraf.....the best entertainment bonanza from any political figure.
Guess why!!!
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
^ because he makes fun of India?
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
now you are speaking like mush .....
now a days he is best bet .... when it comes to entertaintment ..
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
Guess again! You have more chances.
I always enjoy TV interviews of Musharraf…the best entertainment bonanza from any political figure.
Guess why!!!
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
After 9/11...Osama Bin Laden....became the most famous person in America!!..need to guess why??
I will explain..It's natural for any country and it's people to keep an eye over a person or a country which they perceive as hostile...However...in this case I am not comparing Mush with Osama.
But as a matter of fact..it was Mushy who was busy planning his Kargil
mis-adventure, when his then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was receiving Vajpayee who tavelled all the way through bus for conveying the message of peace.
This and several other instances in past have forced Indian people to give attention to Pakistani military rulers, whom Indians consider as highly
un-predictable characters.
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
I don't know guys, those that get some pleasure watching Musharaf on TV. yes he is a lot more articulate than other sub-continental leaders and occasionally shows his wits. But if you stop for a minute and think about it, you will realize how insulting all those interviews have been for the country. Every other question is about why Pakistan contnues to be a terrorist haven. Every other comment is a condescending "we know you Musharaf have no choice but to dance to Bush's tunes but we'll humor you and ask you questions as if you are a real country"....is it just me and no one else has felt that? And on top of all that he shows up in shows like Stewart? What, does he realize he is representing a country and not some sort of SNL host guest? Hawking a book while in power?
I cannot think of any other 'leader' who is confronted by pipsqueak reporters and substitute 'anchors' with 3rd rate red neck questions. And what does he do? He just openly bristles on TV and starts defending himself. Shamefull
People, think.
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
Do Indian's even know who their own Prime Minister is? :)
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
garamhawthandapani so you raised some points, and tey are valid,
first one is, how insulting the interviews have been, sure. That would have been the case no matter who was the leader in this situation. So you have two options, to not do interviews and then not have any opportunity to share your perspective, or you do the interviews, knowing that ppl would be insulting, condescending and asking leadng questions. Only thing you can do is anser them as well as you can. He does a pretty good job of it.
second is him showing up on shows like John Stewart.
it worked, I had so many people talking to me about his appearance on the daily show and saying hey, we get the guy, we understand what he is trying to do. he reached a diff audience, and he was able to do an interview that allowed him to show a different side of himself...and of the nation. This is not just my view, but if you look at what media view of him was on being on that show, it was all extremely positive, well not all, most of it.
you cant think of any other leader who is confronted by pipsqueek reporters?
did you see the interview with ahmedinijad? did you see interviews of our leaders after the nuclear tests? the reporters are a bunch of hacks who dont have the manners to speak to statesmen. I thoroughly enjyed the verbal spanking the former saudi ambassador gave to such reporters as well.
and your last point is that he bristles and starts defending himself
so he should not put pipsqueek reporters in their place. I think there is a time to be diplomatic and there is a time to be strong, and when someone obviously is asking questions in a certain way just to fill in the blanks of a biased pre-meditated story, best you can do is respind back in a way that leaves no doubt that the basis of the question itself is flawed.
Re: Mushy More Famous in India than Indian PM
Because Indian politicians are anal retentive old farts who are about as entertaining as watching grass grow?
