PESHAWAR: Former president Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf, who had returned to Pakistan after five years of self-imposed exile to contest the May 11 polls, has been thrown out of the election race.
The former military strongman’s nomination papers were also rejected on Tuesday from NA-32 Chitral, after being earlier disqualified from three other constituencies. Musharraf’s lawyer Muhammad Saad Shibli said they would contest the decision in the High Court.
An election tribunal in Peshawar comprising Justice Fasiul Mulk, Justice Mrs Irshad Qaiser and Justice Mazhar Alam Advocate, after a lengthy debate on the objections raised against acceptance of Musharraf’s nomination papers by the returning officer in Chitral, barred the former president from contesting general elections.
Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate Abdul latif, Jamaat-i-Islami candidate Abdul Akbar Chitrali along with three voters, Sajjadullah, Alamzeb and Khalilur Rehman had filed the objections.
Earlier in the day, an election tribunal had decided against an appeal filed by Musharraf challenging the returning officer’s rejection of his nomination papers for NA-48 (Islamabad-I). The returning officer had rejected Musharraf’s nomination after objections were raised on it saying the retired general had subverted the Constitution as army chief and had illegally placed judges under house arrest.
Musharraf’s appeal for NA-139 (Kasur-II) was also rejected by an election tribunal in Lahore. The tribunal said the former president had abrogated the Constitution thrice and thus did not qualify to contest in the coming general election.
Not surprised IT'S Pakistan
Sab chor sharabi zani jawari sazayafta rishwat khor haram khors are eligible under 62/63 clause. Time is not with him it's clear truth.
His lawyer said they will appeall..however since its the high court that rejected him then that means his appeal has to be in SC...where other things are also waiting for him so....
Ohh
Some one thinking , There was some thing wrong
He kept imprison more than sixty judges for months . Without any legal order even . Even no written order . He is still free .
So what was the reason behind the disqual? Unless it had anything to do with the pending cases against him he should not have been disqualified, even though I am no fan of him but this is just plain stupid.
Karma bites back. He maybe the 1st gen to face treason charges. Btw, he must be regretting why he did not hang NS when he had the chance.
NS must be thinking why he signed the deal to begin with. If Mush goes to trial, he will use all information against NS. NS got away with a little more than murder when he escaped to Jeddah.
I doubt the treason charge will stick. Its stupid, to be honest. PCO judge sitting as the supreme court justice, and the SC hearing cases on why Musharraf installed PCO judges.

Imran will also afraid .
If he gave the details of stuff , provided in Lahore colorful days .
Other than general humiliation, there won't be any serious punishment for him. Not at least in the near future or as long as the current batch of judges don't retire and there's a general improvement and stability in Pakistan's democracy.
This is outrageous. When tax chors and defaulters can contest, why not him?
I commend him for coming back even if it was a wishful thinking. And treason charges against him will not stick. He has way too much information about the ruling elites that he will be trailed that way.
