To me, Pakistan needs modernisation, prosperity, and development more then democracy or anything else.
I do not care how a person comes to power in Pakistan, as long as that person is intelligent, sincere, incorruptible, and have vision to make Pakistan modernise, prosper, and developed.
I do not think that such person can come to power in Pakistan through democracy, as those that spend money to get to power, what most Pakistani politicians do, they try to get that money back if they come to power, hence are mostly corrupts. Hence to me President Musharraf is fine. He is doing a good job, and as long as he is delivering, it is fine with me.
well said
the loony toons in the opposition can go find a new occupation
I doubt Mushrraf will stay longer. He has to make a decision on either to completely step down from power or give up some of it.
First scenario is going to be disaster for us, the second one, which is called General Election, requires him to have support from political parties. Mullah and MMA are not going to give him any. Rest like MQM and factions of PPP have their political future cling to him, which is Sindh and somewhat part of Punjab. If Mushrraf has the confidence of military than Punjab and Islamabad is more likely to vote for him. People and critics are claiming that the instability in Pakistan from suicide bombing and political violence is because of President. I think West and India is looking at it different way. India knows that it is President who kept the peace with them for so long. Situation in Kashmir is much better now than ever before. America and West know with Mushrraf they have someone to talk to. America can talk and deal with him about Afghanistan and India about Kashmir. It is a huge plus for him. The only problem is America, whose Congress has complete Democratic control, want some political support with it. Meaning they want a consensus from Pakistanis.
I think, Mushrraf will ride this wave out. He will be bruised but not finished. We will go into the election and expect him or his party to win 60% of the majority. It won't be a complete democracy, which I think will take place after 4 years from that election.
There is light at the end of tunnel. Keep up the hope, things will be back to normal. In the end, people of Pakistan know that this President have brought more money and prosperity to them than any previous administration.
Generals are highly qualifed people and are no muppets who only think about thier personal greed.
Ohoooo....what a joke..what a joke !!!!!

all these political parties are about to get a real mind fk. do you guys believe mushy would sit by idly and let the **** hit the fan.
i wouldnt be all too surprised if
1: judicial council votes in favor of iftikhar thereby reinstating him
2: political parties call it a major victory, celebrations break out across country, mushy asked to step down
3: iftikhar gives green light to mushy's 5yr presidential term
4: everyone left shell-shocked, parties claim they were had once more
I wrote this about 5 months back. Cant believe all of them came true, but then again the chai parties between ifti (not cj at time) and mushy at isb club had to bear fruit someday.
