he was not in uniform so while the others just watched and acknowledged with a head bow etc each time, he returned salute with the informal slanted hand on forhead; not the army style salute. for every regiment/ unit passing by he did the same and for the SSG at first did the same too and then lifted his right fist and shook it to show appreciation and encourage the commandos who are the elite force. He did that probably because he belongs to the SSG too and the SSG is a symbol of the best of the best who take charge of doing what even most of the best cant.
it was quite a sight. very amusing and encouraging.
