Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

See : http://www.satribune.com/archives/200504/P1_arun4.htm for reference.

I’m beginning to get a feeling that Musharraf is going to pull another stunt in New Delhi this weekend when he visits there ostensibly for the Ind-Pak final one dayer.

It is good to have josh and all but I hope this guy realizes that diplomatic deals cannot be done by public stunts and offering “packages” in front of cameras.

It was a novelty when Musharraf did it for the first time because public usually doesn’t get to hear this type of talk. But now people are getting tired of this on the Indian side.

Indian leaders are accountable to the voters and cannot be cavalier and unanswerable like military strongmen.

I’m afraid if a Mush stunt goes bad, we may see renewing of tensions.

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

Mushy just needs attention like a two year old and thats that.....

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

Yes man he likes Tareef. HE also says in public a lot of things that should be kept private.

I guess it comes with being accountable to no one. He is the Shah of Pakistan :D

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

he certainly is gonna pull a stunt or two. he has invited a bunch of guys from kashmir for a tete. stupid sonia gandhi will probably prevail upon the Indian team to lose a match in honor of the visit.

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

Musharraf is forcing you? Can I ask where’s the force apply, appropriately? :hehe:

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

hey u r demeaning afridi and pakistani efforts of winning the match

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

musharraf knows that he cant force anybody.he only can plead.now he needs external help to keep himself in power in pakistan.i sometimes doubt if pakistan is a soverign country,or ever was

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

Pakistanis seem to have a knack for pulling stunts when in India… Our team for example pulled one of in Ahmedabad just recently:hehe:
But seriously, knowing Musharaf, it probably will be a stunt and every Indian is gonna hate himfor it, and every Pak is gonna clap and giggle:)

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

PP1,

This is not bacchon waali baat. Lives are at stake.

Leaders need to act responsibly.

When heads of state meet, they don't discuss anything that their aides haven't already met and agreed upon.

For example, if the US knows Mush is not going to agree to hand over A.Q.Khan, Bush is not going to bring it up in a meeting with Mush.

Cheer if you want to, but Agra led to the parliament attack.

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

the fear Mighty Mush inflict!

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

Musharaf is hardly a good leader, and the same can be said for any indian leader.

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

It is not fear. This is a typical Pak army mindset, sorry to say.

This is the sort of thinking that leads to stunts like Kargil, thinking that Indians will run away after seeing Pak troops.

An unaccountable leader can say what he wants.

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

look @ the bright side of musharraf, only unaccountable ppl can take bold decision and solve the problems Accountable ppl (lets say BJP) always play politics keyun k they have to get re-elected in next election. Just like BJP which has started playing Hindu Card

I say screw politics, ask your COAS to take over and then Mushy & your COAS can take the bold decisions

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

By the same argument, India can expect Musharraf to throw away Kashmir, right?

The truth is that Pakistan has agreed to stop terrorism, and big dady in Washington is watching Mushy. So, with no terrorism and no more dialogue with India on Kashmir, Mushy is crying like a baby. He needs to pull some stunts to show to his other colleagues and poor Pakistani ppl that, something positive is going on.

I have just three questions for Mushy:

  1. Why were u involved in terrorism in India? To cause India “bleed to death”?
  2. When u stop that terrorism, did u get any timeline for dialogue on Kashmir?
  3. When is the apology coming for the terrorism in India and Afghanistan?

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

Musharaf does have the tiger by its tail and for sheer survival has to be on the move all the time. The tiger is neither the US masters nor the Indian neighbors. Pakistan itself is the gravest danger point for him - Just enough time has passed since the coup for some in the military to have acquired sufficient support and motivations for the next round. And while that's going on, the religious rascals can't be taken for granted either for too long.

He has played his cards and bought time but not much is left for him to play with. May be handing a camel in as osama will get him another year. Or a surprise (!) announcement while hugging the hurriat gang can get another 6 months.

All that goes poof ofcourse the first time the bus gets attacked. So he has to manage that too.

If he gets tired he is gone

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

losty

the apologies need to come from civilian and military govts before musharraf. At the same time as apologies are given, there are those that Pakistan should be getting from others too.

are you going to ask the same questions from benazir, nawaz, junejo, zia, ayub, yahya?

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

then y korea and china etc are asking apologies from japan for war time crimes in 2nd world war from present generation japanese.y musharraf apologised to bangaladesh for 1971 massacar of bengali’s on his last visit.my dear let me answer it for u,which quite simple and straight forward----A child has to reap the fruits of his father and forefathers…hope that makes quite clear to u

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

I said only army, that Musharraf represents.

I want to know which civilian leader after Zia was involved in militant terrorist policy against India. BB shook hands with Rajeev, and persuaded army to stop terrorism in Indian Panjab.

NS invited and shook hands with Indian PM, and was actively pursuing peaceful policies with India, at the same time, when Musharraf and his colleagues were planning Kargil.

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

oh believe me, it’s the confusions ppl get in…like here, the use of the word ‘fear’ was clearly not understood. the existance of this thread defines it.

Re: Musharraf in New Delhi - Another stunt in making?

Im sorry but I dont see this as such a world altering life or death sort off circumstance. Agra and the Parliament are miles apart. Musharaf having breakfast with reporters and such things doesnt warrant an attack on the Indian parliament. Im sorry, I dont think the Parliament attack was some kind of conspiracy plot hatched by some shadow Ppak group to counter for the lack f succes in Agra.
Most of the Thamasha that Musharaf displays is not taken seriously. Even he knows that. His whole agenda on Kashmir that he put foward didnt gain much support, and was given a cold shoulder by the Indians. Despite this, the peace process muddles along. Regardless, I feel the process has come far enough that such displays are irrelevant.
You also seem to down play the intelligence and political savy of Pakistani’s and over play yours. Pakistan policy makers arent as stupid as you might think, and Indian policy makers artent as brilliant and democratic as you might give them credit for. I mean the recent deal on the Kashmir bus service would seem some what rash by some members of your media.
