Re: Musharraf hits out at retired generals
Again, I think the logic is quite clear. I don't get why you don't get it, other than you're being your usual aggressive self when you see your argument isn't holding up.
So, lets try again, shall we?
You support media - all media (your words, not mine, baby) within "all media" --> some subset of the "all media" shows terrorists giving their lectures on air, trying to gain public support.
hence ... you support the act of giving terrorists some spotlight to get public support.
You still with me? You tell me where the statements start becoming false for you.
Therefore, you support terrorists in getting their message across to the world.
Therefore, you sympathize with terrorists. If totally disagreed with them and saw them as destructive forces, you'd want them to be banned from advertising their message.
By the way, for the record, let me make it quite clear. I don't support Musharraf's closing of the private channels. I don't even support the entire PEMRA, except where it makes it clear to stop showing terrorist messages and stop showing dead bodies from incidents like Lal Masjid which generate more sympathy for terrorists. I do think PEMRA was biased in making Mush look good, because it also contained clauses to not speak ag/Musharraf. Actually, I'm sort of divided in this, because the country's own media being so vehemently anti-Musharraf doesn't help the national crisis the country is in, but nevertheless, it is a biased piece of a contract in that regard. I think GEO and ARY do a great job (those are the only 2 channels I watch regularly, so I can't speak for other channels), but I think they should NOT be giving coverage to biased maulvis from around the country as they did during Lal Masjid where every hoo haa was on the air condemning the government for actually taking steps to STOP terrorism. That was wrong because laloo Pakistanis happen to take clerics very seriously, even when they're wrong.
Media shouldnt be showing dead terrorists and their victims, but the media has a right to defend itself in court...
Mushies crime was in shutting down the channels illegally, without rocource of the courts...
The govt must take the media to court, and only the courts can then force them to follow PEMRA rules...
Mush, does not respect the judiciary or the rule of law, and so he shut down the channels by foce, illegaly...
