ya, was a surprise to me too but the celebrity president of Pakistan is going to be a guest on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show tonight (Sept. 26th 2006). Should be interesting.
The Daily Show comes on Comedy Central and Comedy network at 11 (in Toronto, EST i think)
Very good interview. Musharraf had a great chance to provide a positive view of Pakistan, especially the deal with the tribes in Waziristan.
Interestingly, the interview revealed that one of Musharraf's initital reactions to the US threat after September 2001 was to evaluate Pakistan's ability to fight the US, before deciding that this would not work out in Pakistan's best interests.
I loved his reply to Jon's "seat of the heat" question, lol.
His book was in the top 5 sellers on Amazon.com in the morning (sept. 26), i bet its gonna climb the ledder even more now.
Good for him (being sarcastic), making money for himself while on the official business visit to the States.
I really don't think most ppl in the west really care about Pakistan's role in the fight. They actually see Pakistan as the supporter of terrorism and Taliban/Al-Qaeda rather then fighting them

I hope that didn't take him more than 5 seconds.
video link of the interview is in video forum nstar.
Im watching it right now... central standard time...
But this is very good for the presidents image I think.. And makes Pakistan look good as an extension.. Gives us a softer image.
As a gesture mirroring Pakistani hospitality, Stewart welcomed Musharraf with a cup of jasmine green tea, and offered the more American delicacy of a Twinkie. Musharraf chuckled and thanked the host, though Stewart promptly changed the subject.
“Where’s Osama bin Laden?” he asked suddenly.
Now remember Musharraf’s claims of the US paying Pakistan for their cooperation. So Pakistan gets “reward” from US for its cooperation.
It seems like Jon did the same thing. First he gave Musharraf incentives (tea, twinkie), and then asked him a direct question.
It’s children who eat Twinkies, and so Jon was like: “come on kid, have some candy … NOW TELL US WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU”.
This talk of “mirroring hospitality” was done only to make it less obvious.
Oh plz.. if you dont already know, its a comedy show… and one should have a least bit of sense of humor to understand something like this. Musharraf knew this was coming and there is nothing wrong with being invloved in a show just to have a good time. I enjoyed and it and seems like so did he and many other people as well.. I dont see how did he humiliate Musharraf when he was sitting there making fun of Bush also. Like I said it was a comedy show and most of what went on during the show was funny and everybody enjoyed it. There should be no offense taken from a show such as this.

You are reading too much into it. Jon Stewart was a gracious host!
