Mumtaz predicts coalition govt in Sindh
Tuesday, December 25, 2007
LARKANA: Veteran politician and Chairman Sindh National Front (SNF) Mumtaz Ali Bhutto predicated a coalition government in Sindh, where the PML-Q, the PPP and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would be the key players in the upcoming general election.
Speaking in Usman Jeho and Motanpur villages of the Larkana district on Monday, he said the next government would hardly last for three months due to differences among coalitions partners.
He alleged that the public money was being pumped into the electioneering of the PPP and pro-government candidates, adding during the previous election Benazir Bhutto had sponsored the election campaign of Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, an alien to Ratodero and now the municipal funds of Ratodero were being spent on the election campaign of Soomro.
He accused Taluka Nazim Ratodero Dr Shafqat Soomro of bearing the expenses of Soomros’ campaign from government funds. He said the Sachal Alliance, being the ally of Haji Altaf Husain Unnar, was misusing the Zakat and Baitulmal funds. They were busy injecting this money to purchase loyalties of their opponents in utter violation of the rules and regulations of the Election Commission, he alleged. Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh of the PML-F and Mir Nasrulah Bijarani of the PML-Q contesting for PS-34 (Shikarpur) and NA-217 (Kashmore), met Mumtaz Bhutto in Mirpur Bhutto and sought his support during the elections.
Maleeha Malik of the PML-Q contesting for NA-208, Sardar Manzoor Ahmed Panhwar candidate from PS-13 and Raja Khan Jakhrani of MMA contesting for PS-14 also met with the veteran politician and sought his support.
