I find it pretty disturbing when people start treating other countrymen as some kind of foreign invaders, as has happened in the case of Mumbai. The fundamentalist hinduist party Shiv Sena and millions others Maratahi people are wrong to demand that other indians - especially the northeren - should not be allowed to have businesses in Mumbai. It should not result in looming civil war.
Chidambaram is right to say that Mumbai belongs to other indians as well and not just Marathis. The fear of civil war between Shiv Sena lead fundamentalists and RSS right wingers is growing, but hopefully situation will be brought under control soon.
Which steps you think could be taken to thwart the looming civil war in Maharastra? Please share.

But the thing is that the whole nation is brainwashed by Bollywood and makes the poor indians believe that everything is good in India that the minorities are happy.
The indian government is the biggest culprit because they propagate this theory to the world but they cannot fool everyone the truth is comming out and you can see that all over the internet how minorities speak out and cry for help.
They try to please the Sikhs by making them puppet prime minister whilst the power is in hands of extreme fundamentalist hindu's.

Queer, you are right Karachi is quite a violent city, and is known for ethnic and religious tussles just like Mumbai. But lets discuss Karachi related topics in your other thread, shall we? ;)
The thing in Mumbai is getting out of hand, as fundamentalists have now openly started to threaten any north Indian who dares to come there. You and me and some other forum friends should collect some ideas to rid india from looming civil war.
In Maharastra assembly, the poor Bihari who insisted to take oath in Hindi instead of Marathi was thrashed by Marathis. But he did the right thing to say that Mumbai belongs to all, even though putting his life on line during the process.
I think one way to avoid the civil war in Maharastra could be to end to racism of north indians against southern ones. End of this discrimination will be the first step towards reconciliation.
Maharasthra and Bihar are neither north india nor south India … i know a small country has just four provinces but India being a large country has four regions … so first familirize yourself with India and then try to solve the problem :k:

What about Biharis who have lived there for decades but don't like talking in Marathi? Or others from all over india? I hope they are not burned alive.
But on the other hand, I have read of many northern indians being racists against southern ones. Specially from indian Punjab. They should also take a look at themselves if they want to avoid the civil war. Lets hope they realize it soon.
I am sure you can concerned about the non marathi speaking taxi drvers:D … but let me assure you that the Maharashtra government has clarified that non marathi speaking taxi drivers can work in Mumbai … problem solved :k:

I have said this many time .... India knows how to handle the various opinion inside India and they drink Lassi together .... But right now you should be concentrating on the people who are out to drink blood in your country !!!!!!
